Academy intake - (including Lynagh Junior)
   DIR By: never sleep
       Date: May 12, 2025, 10:09 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Eleven players are set to join Harlequins’ Senior Academy ahead
of pre-season, where they'll join the First Team in preparation
       for the 2025/26 campaign.
The latest crop of youngsters are set to continue in the Club’s
player pathway after an impressive Under-18s campaign, in which
they recorded five wins from six matches in the Academy League.
Several of the players that are progressing into the Senior
Academy have represented England and Wales at Under-18 and
       Under-19 level respectively.
Harlequins Head of Academy, Chim Gale, said: “We’re excited
about this group coming through. Each player has had their own
journey and will have enjoyed the Under-18s campaign, as well as
the past season with the respective schools. A lot of those
progressing into the Senior Academy have been involved in the
Under-18s Six Nations Festivals and a few have stepped up with
the England and Wales at Under-19s whilst still at school, which
       is a credit to them.
“There are also a few of the players stepping up into the Senior
Academy that couldn’t compete in the Under-18s Academy League
due to injury. But, we feel as though they have done enough to
come in over the pre-season window to show us what they’re
about, and how they can make the jump from Schoolboy Rugby into
the Senior Academy setup. We’re excited to see how the group
continues to develop over the summer and what they achieve
       within our Senior Academy.”

I saw Lynagh Minimus play when he would have been in Year 8 or 9
       - I arrived early for my son's game and was watching the
preceding game on the same pitch. Commented to another spectator
that the fullback seemed to know what he was doing and was told
"Well, he should do, given who his dad is..."

Sean Sharp, looks the real deal at 15. Balanced, very fast and
super athletic. Defo one to watch out for

From what I've seen this season, Gorleku and E. Williams look
the best bet to advance, closely followed by T. Williams and
Cunnison. Mind you, if there's anyone on here who doesn't
already, I would take my rugby opinions with a pinch of salt.

He’s even learnt to muck up putting the ball done for a try -
London 7s - so he’s good backup for Tyrone.

Yeah, let's hope he's learned a career long lesson from that -
it was a struly stupid bit of showboating! Good on him for
getting an actual try though, plus a very nice jackal.

Out of interest, have you seen anything of Theo Povey? He's our
coach's brother so there's a lot of interest at the Ams.

Tate Williams. Freakishly athletic. Could do with adding a few
kilos, but looks amazingly athletic for a number 8.

I don't recall seeing him play, unless he just didn't make an
impression on me! He may be one of the players mentioned who
missed out on games this season due to injury.
