       Porter
       Care
       Townsend
       Friday
       Gjaltema?
That feels like 1 (possibly 2) too many

Friday is 19/20...he's not ready yet. Gjaltema is off. That
would leave Porter with an injury-prone and half-on-the-TV Danny
       Care as back up.
A solid, experienced signing. We were never going to get some
French wonderkid so this seems pragmatic if we think Porter is
our no1 and a couple of decent academy prospects.

Considering we have 4 at least on the books this literally makes
NO sense. Unless Care has decided to retire suddenly? But even
then good to see the club has strayed as ever from the real
       areas of weakness

I personally think this is a decent signing. Care is pretty much
done - he's nowhere close to the DC of old. Porter needs a
decent backup and Townsend will fulfil that role until Friday
and/or Murray graduate from their academy contracts. Makes
       sense, pragmatic business.
I get it, we're all frustrated with the Wilson 24-25
capitulation, but this isn't bad news.

He would be a better support act to Porter than Care, with then
managing Friday's game time. With Murray that would be enough.
If he is in addition to Porter, Care, Friday and Murray then it
does not make any sense though and in my eyes is a bit of
financial mismanagement. We spend up to the cap, but its
examples like this is which if the case, show poor management of
funds and certainly quantity over quality (which the teams above
us seem to focus more on)

Ah got him confused with Law. My mistake. Is Gjaltema confirmed
as off? There's nothing I can find online about it
       Even with him gone, there's
       Porter
       Care and Townsend
       Murray and Friday
I'm looking at the other teams that may lose a 9 to England:
Saints look like it's Mitchell & James backed by 3 who are 22 or
under (is one a medical joker for Mitchell?)
Leicester seem to have JvP, Whiteley, Youngs and an Academy kid.
Bath appear to have 3 in the main squad and an academy option
We have Gus & Raffi with last year's u20 9 behind them and this
       year's u20 option behind him
If you've got a salary cap to stick to, 5 9s is excessive as
most teams seem to have 4. If Gjaltema is still around, that's
       madness

Nothing confirmed but his last contract was in March 2023. No
way was it for more than 2 years so reckon it expires this
summer and the club will let him go. We'd then have two full
time SHs in Porter and Townsend. One part time in DC and two
academy boys looking to step up and play Prem Cup games. Seems
reasonable depth. Care's salary is propped up with TV work so
don't think he'll be on nearly as much as he once was. And will
also be useful for coaching Friday and Murray.
