Direction of travel under the CEO
   DIR By: TW Quin

The CEO is accountable for the performance and direction of an
organisation. Under the current CEO endless marketing spin but
poor results on the pitch. BSKO over the road looks to be half
empty that bubble looks to have burst. We are not the
entertainers even the ubiquitous pre match fireworks looking a
bit jaded now. Looking at the Facebook pages they are full of
discontent. Last 2 head coach appointments have not worked. All
       it seems is not well.

His appointments have not been good - maybe the owners need to
       get involved

The actual selections of head coaches post O’Shea were all at
best poorly thought out and at worst utter incompetent decision
making. The only time we had any solid identity and success was
a bloke who stepped in out the blue as a stop gap.
Our signings appear for the third consecutive season to be
overall lacklustre and we lose more ground each week to other
sides. I think when Wilson refers to a 3 year plan it’s the time
AFTER he is removed to put all the mistakes right

Serious question but why should the owners step in?
From their point of view the books are starting to look better,
and they aren’t shipping as much money
Totally understand how we as supporters see it but owners have a
       slightly different view

Depends if they are supporters or investors I imagine. However,
from both angles you’ll prob be rather disappointed - especially
if we are spending up to the cap.

It seems to me that Quins have everything right off the pitch —
the problem is what's happening on the pitch, which is actually
rather important (both for the obvious reason and to continue to
ensure success off the pitch — they are codependent). It's not a
time to attack Laurie (do you not remember the previous bloke
...?), it's time to hope he's got Danny Wilson on his agenda,
which I'm sure he must have. Just need to get it right this
       time.

Laurie is doing a very good job but ultimately he does have to
share some of the blame for the current on field issues. I'm not
sure if he appointed gustard or if that was the prat before.
I'm not sure who gets the flack for Matson and Wilson: Laurie or
Millard. Laurie is the man in charge though and do does need to
sort out the issues at the top, not just look at the bottom
       line, marketing, etc.
Certainly don't want him to go though. He is hugely in credit,
but needs to take action now

I think LD has done a good job with the finances and getting us
the money spinning games, but I feel the focus has gone too
heavy on the bands, the Hawaiian shirts or whatever, rather than
the product everyone turns up to see.
It reminds me a bit of the David Ellis era, who also seemed
fixated on non rugby things, as we had gigs at the stoop during
his tenure. I 100% get the “why” though, but ultimately it’s not
massively off from where we are now in terms of general feeling
at the club. I had a meeting with Ellis as I emailed him telling
him Kingston was killing the club, and the bloke was utterly
       delusional.
The fact we are spending up to the cap, and with an article
earlier this year showing we are on average the most expensive
team to support, we have been royally had for the on field
product. LD does shoulder some blame for that, but I don’t think
it’s as big as the entire coaching set up and players

Endless marketing spin is an unusual take.
Breaking even, selling out every home game, stoop unrecognisably
better, more inclusive, less full of dull old rugby fans (I’m
       54) who preferred it when it was crap, way better than it was
when I first got my season ticket 15 years ago.
Really strong brand, financial growth, increased fan base,
       better product, slimmed down staffing.
The team may be crappy but the idea that Dalrymple’s time in
charge is just “marketing spin” really doesn’t stand much
       scrutiny.
(Being someone who works in marketing, by the way that’s also
       how you make money.)
BSKO is, however, a good point - and may be the kick up the bum
they need to sack the coaching team and sort it out.

Sounds to me like something someone who works in marketing would
       say.
