I never saw anything around that.
There were a few points - but I can only remember 2.
1. increase depth of squad
2. improve defence

And number 1 -unless depth means just getting numbers in that

Number 1 was definitely related to increasing team depth by
getting game time for academy players
Also, lets just stick to some facts about one of the older
players :-)
Halfpenny is old, but was only taken on as a medical joker to
provide cover for Green.
I think that was a reasonable option.

So we can't abandon a plan because the plan is all about
getting back up for porter? We got thumped 3 games in a row
playing dire rugby because porter's injured, so we have to stick
to the plan to get him back up. Right
We could give game time to an academy player like waghorn, but
instead we play northmore at 12. We could play an academic
second row, but we play launchbury.
Well done Wilson for convincing his manager that he has a plan,
but I'm not sure anyone else is convinced

Yeah, who exactly are the academy players who have been given
meaningful gametime? Waghorn, sure. Anyone else...?
Hobson could have been given a run - we desperately need a TH.
Our wingers have been sub-par - where have the opportunities
been for Zheng or Hyde? If that's the essence of the plan, it
hasn't even been attempted.
And even as you play Devil's advocate, never sleep, surely you
can see that no matter what plan he might have, Wilson has lost
the dressing room now. His blueprint might be gold dust, but
without buy-in from the players delivering it, it will never
amount to anything.
Half the job of a Head Coach is earning collective buy-in and
cohesion from your squad. I'd put my money on that being where
he falls short.

I'm not defending Wilson. I am defending the plan.
Also, I'm not saying that he has done a good job in implementing
the plan. I am just trying to present a few facts against some
of the ridiculous posts.
But, we have played two or three academy scrum halfs, one
academy front row, one academy fly half, one academy back row
and an academy centre in full premiership League games. There
may be others who I have forgotten.
I'm just trying to counter some of the more bizarre false
claims.

I'm sure we all defend the plan, but my secondary school Drama
teacher could have told you that giving young guys game time and
improving our defence was a good "plan"... and something tells
me he's never watched a rugby game in his life. If you're out
there reading this Mr Lewis, no hate at all.
I don't think there's a single Head Coach in the world who
wouldn't come in with improving defence at the top of their in
tray. It's beyond shocking - yes, there were signs of
improvement, but we're back to square one now. The idea that
"make defence better" was some kind of Einstein's apple epiphany
on the part of Wilson is absurd - any regular visitor to The
Stoop of a certain vintage has been screaming it for decades.
The other part of "the plan" is to lean more heavily on the
academy so as to rely less on big name imports and reduce the
overall squad size. Again, no issue with that. Again, it's
something even my mum has vocalised and she still asks me EVERY
SINGLE GAME why the forwards "do the scrum". So again, are you
really asking me to believe that's another Wilson pearl of
enlightened wisdom? Even if it has come from him within the
hallowed halls of Surrey Sports Park, it's hardly an original
thought within the league - most other clubs have been
implementing that kind of move steadily since the Covid fallout
and one look at the table will show you they're doing it better
than us too...
And your post is almost persuasive in its use of a list, but
let's dig into that. Yes, all those players have made their
debuts - but I'd imagine none of them, bar maybe Waghorn and
Benson, will feel satisfied that they're any closer to playing a
meaningful run of games in the quarters. 10-20 mins off the
bench in one or two games for the rest of them - and for most of
them it's been when we're already 3 tries behind and the game is
long gone. What's that going to teach them?
I was one of those cutting Wilson slack earlier on in the
season, but this steep capitulation offramp we've been on shows
he's done. As I've alluded to above, the two hallmarks of his
revolutionary "make defence better" and "play young players"
blueprint are still priorities, so hand this masterplan over to
a new Head Coach who actually knows how to work with the players
to make those things happen.
