is year 1 (not year 2 as some have said) of a 3 year plan and
until the last couple of matches the main objective for this
year - fixing the defence - has been going well. It's also clear
that the squad is struggling with injuries; from the way he's
spoken in the last couple of post-match interviews, we were
struggling to put out a fully fit team even before the injuries
picked up at the weekend. I would not be surprised if we have
some players in the XXIII who are only 90% fit.
       >
       > That said, with Millard moving on we probably will hire. It's
possible that Wilson will step into Millard's role (and I
wouldn't be surprised if he was hired with the expectation that
he'd do that), so we may hire into the head coach role. Blackett
would be an excellent fit for that, assuming he can be enticed
       away.

I do appreciate the injuries have been less than ideal, but all
clubs have to manage that to some extent. Whether the club is on
a 3 year plan, I'm open to it.
However, he's been Head Coach for the last 2 seasons, this is
his year 3. We've got worse every year since he became top dog,
we are losing talented players to rivals (Jibulu in particular
is really stark), recently retired players (Marler) explicitly
allude to an unhappy camp and the fans are potentially voting
with their feet with the Gloucester game. I can't for the life
of me see how we can continue with this setup.
With the rumours of him having a role in the Welsh men's
coaching team, I think he knows it too. Again, whether the club
does, that'll come out in the wash over the next month.

I don’t think you’ll too far off with this. I’d also add that
Marcus will want to win more than one Prem, he’ll want Euro
glory too so can see him moving off after this contract.
I like the look of Benson he’ll be a fine FH.

Wilson is in Y3. He can’t just decide he’s in year 1 of a 3 year
plan because we’ve been crap this season
If we keep him for 3 years I see John Kingston era levels of
leaving the stadium early. He’s a failed coach in all his jobs
why would we give him 3 years?
Honestly, something is rotten at the moment. We can sell our
stadium out with ease so there is no urgency to act after bad
results. It’s going to take some sort of supporter discontent to
       change things.
The ticket price hikes despite way fewer matches, moving season
ticket holder seats into more expensive areas arbitrarily, more
games at HQ and pointless stoop friendlies. Selling the women’s
games as compensation for the season tickets going up. (Most
don’t go). The dismal recruiting of players. Letting promising
players we need go. The crappy bars and blocking access to the
new areas for season ticket holders for “functions”. The “you
spoke we listened” charade where the answers basically
       demonstrated the exact opposite
       And so on…

There's a difference between having been with an organisation
for a number of years and being a number of years into a
specific plan. Wilson is in his 3rd year with Quins, but what he
said at the State of Play evening is that we're in the first
year of a three year plan to rebuild the squad and coaching
       team.
You honestly think he just made that up? That there was no
governance or review of the plan? That it hasn't been agreed
       with the Quins board?

Danny Wilson may have been with us for part of the 22/23 season.
But, he wasn't a head coach. (He joined us as a lineout +
       contact coach in Jan 2023.)
He became head coach for the 23/24 season. So, he has been head
coach for less than 2 seasons so far.
So, he can't be in his 3rd year of a 3 year plan.
Also, it is pretty unlikely that he formulated a 3 year plan
before he had taken the role of head coach.
So, logic dictates that this must be the 1st year of the plan.

I think the whole three year plan thing is somewhat irrelevant
if the plan is bad and we lose a ton of matches playing poor
       rugby

The three year plan does serve well as a deflector of any
       immediate criticism, though.

there's no way the club will allow this '3 year plan' if no
improvement seen soon - changes have to made end of season
presuming we end up 8th or thereabouts.

Abandoning the plan would be sheer lunacy.
One of the reasons that we got hammered in the last 3 games is
due to the unavailability of Porter. (Porter did play against
Ireland but went off fairly early in the game).
One of the points that the 3 year plan is trying to address is
to give us more depth in key positions. (Remember, at Quins, the
head coach doesn't do recruitment, so Wilson can't "directly"
       address that.)
So, the plan is to give game time to the academy guys to try to
       get them game ready.
This is being done. But, you can't expect miracles getting 3
academy players to suddenly be premiership ready. This will take
       some years.
The alternative is to abandon the plan and buy in talent. Not
sure that is a great option (although I understand why we need
another SH in the short term.)
