To what end? It just makes things more lopsided and encourages
       recklessness

The reality is, Jammy, that those clubs that have sugar daddies
really want this approach as if you could get a European super
league with big clubs having their pick of the talent, it would
sell and attract both fans and sponsors/investors so would grow
the game in that way. Teams the quality of Toulouse, Bordeaux
and Leinster playing each other week in, week out which they
would all lap up. The things in our favour are a strong brand
and a full ground every (other) week, with waiting list. The
things against us are the lack of a sugar daddy and I'm not sure
our ownership would want to speculate without guarantees.
Don't get me wrong, I hate the thought of it and it would bury
some smaller clubs but I can see why the money people want it.

I think it would be far easier to get a sugar daddy to invest
megabucks into a club if there is no salary cap.
Basically, the salary cap prevents clubs from buying multiple
       good/expensive players..
But billionaires are not used to being told that they can't do
       something.

And that's a lot of how we got in to this mess. Club owners who
want success for their club and don't care about the sport - and
morons running the game of course.
Sports that go with a franchise model pretty much by definition
have buy-in from the club/team owners as you have to give up a
load of individual rights for collective bargaining power.

I'm sorry, I still don't get it. This is going to attract more
investment. So we'll have more rich people losing money year
after year while owning a rugby club. More people like Dyson
happy to do so. More sponsors willing to stick their names round
       the ground?
So are we saying most clubs in this franchise will continue to
       lose money?
Indeed with paying more money to lure back the players in France
       they'll be losing more money?
       Q. How do you make a million owning a rugby club?
       A. Start with 10 million.
How much difference will these make?
       • Plans to rename the league
       • New branding that leans heavily on physicality
       • Talks over a centralised kit deal
       • Championship clubs leaving the Premiership Rugby Cup
Answer - peanuts in the greater scheme of things.
I mean football clubs spend money like drunken sailors, have
huge debts and somehow carry on. Why won't we? As long as
someone has stepped up to fill in the difference between income
and expenditure why do we care?
Is this where Jillings and Saville cash in and get their money
       back?
What is in it for the investors?

Nope. It's the other way round. Salary caps are a way to stop
owners bankrupting themselves in an arms race to build better
and better squads. It's why the retribution on Sarries - from
Nigel Wray's peers - was so brutal.

Well, Jammers, I believe in laissez-faire capitalism. For
example, the end game is never actually the end game because
there are too many moving parts to accurately predict the
outcome. Its a sort of reactive capitalism that means you adapt
and change as factors alter and resist putting artificial
constraints in place that inevitably cause their own problems
       ultimately.
It is an inherent human trait to want to control things as Mans'
strongest emotions are fear itself and fear of the unknown in
       particular.
All of which is a wordy way of saying "let the cards fall where
       they will"..
