But... The only bit advantage as I understand it is negotiating
TV rights and the fact there's no relegation. How is this going
to help teams losing £4m a year?
As I understand it, we still get revenue from sponsors, tickets,
       shop sales, food/drink, advertising.
       What does this change ?

Basically, a wealthy bloke (or investment trust) isn't going to
buy a club and then watch them get demoted.
If the trust has loads of money, they could buy a club as a
money losing investment though (which I think could be handy for
       tax purposes)

OK - so it may (and it's only a "may") encourage some rich sugar
daddy to emerge from the woodwork and fund Newcastle or L. Irish
or Wasps or whoever. But overall it seems a bit timid. It
doesn't address the underlying problems of too much outgoing and
       too little incoming.
You can decide to fund Newcastle, but how are you going to get
them up there competing against Bath? When will all 12-14 clubs
break even, let alone make a profit?
I can't help feeling I'm missing something here.

To sum up. Let the well supported, well financed and well run
big clubs go off and join a European League.
We will meanwhile have a jolly old time in an English
Premiership playing the bulk of the current Premiership plus
some ambitious Championship Clubs. Maybe even remove some of the
artificial financial restraints and let the cards fall where
       they will.

It feels like a needs must arrangement and on the face of it, it
does feel like it's being done with good intentions (feel free
to call me naive, but then what is the alternative?)
Unfortunately, the inevitable (and presumably, known)
consequence is that there will be no incentive for teams to put
out their best team week-in, week-out for Premiership games. So
it's the fans who lose out.
Then again, if it works, does this enable Prem teams to recruit
like the Irish and French teams longer term and compete in
Europe? That's the potential positive but would require changes
to the EQP requirements (affecting the England team as a result,
question mark) and would take years to bear fruit anyway.
Personally, I'd always rather see Quins fighting it out at the
top end of The Prem - with a deep run in Europe just a bonus...
I imagine I'll have to adjust this way of thinking if this whole
thing goes through, as will many others.

Good point. Maybe there would need to be qualifying criteria.
