It is time for coaches found guilty of abusing referees to be
sent to officiating school

Didn't Brian Moore do something like that a decade or so ago?
But I like it as an idea.

If the ban meant you couldn't be anywhere near the Training
Facilities or the Ground on Matchdays with no Radio/Phone comms
it might actually mean something.
A gimmicky Coaching Training School is not the answer. Its
amazing how many speed awareness courses my various Driver
Butlers have had to attend....

I think Brian Moore got challenged on some of his media comments
because he wasn't a referee. As a result he took on a certain
level of referee training. I don't know if you can call him a
referee as a result.

He did also referee a number of games - that makes him a ref in
my book, even if he is now an inactive one.

Already used in the disciplinary processes with coaches and
spectators:
- Matchday bans, for example this season, in a particularly
nasty case, a parent at a club in SE England got an 18 week
matchday ban for verbal abuse of a child player
- Bans from all rugby activity, eg in November, a coach at
Worthing got a 12 week ban from all rugby activity.
- Compulsory presentation to players at the person's club on
topics like the need for respect to referees (video proof has to
be sent to the county)
- Compulsory refereeing courses

I have great sympathy for Diamond
Make the off field Refs liable for post match irregularities and
similarly sanctioned

Steve Diamond insists six-match ban for abusing match officials
is NOT fair

I think a six match ban for someone using the words he did is
reasonable.

Speed Awareness Course. Death by PowerPoint.
Sat one years ago, it was full of tosh. The instructor opened
with "Watch and listen. Don't ask questions or it will take
longer "

Diamond has repeatedly been involved in some pretty unsavoury
incidents. Deserved ban.
David Rose is extremely fortunate to be involved in any position
of trust, mind
