Would help if they showed the games on a channel anyone already
       had.

I think it would be better at the end of the season.
Currently, you could qualify with one team, and then completely
change the squad for the next season.
Put it at the end of the season, and the domestic league
position reflects the squad going into Europe.
If you put it in one block, at the end of the season, you could
put the Challenge Cup on Wednesday and Thursday.
While harder for fans to get to, these are slots the
broadcasters struggle to fill and might pay more for. The
Challenge cup pool rounds currently get very little love from
       the broadcasters.
But you do not want clubs swapping between midweek and weekend
matches from one week to another.

Would help if they had an app that worked on my Smart TV, having
to hook up my Inspiron to my telly and then having to sign in
every time is a right ball ache.
Plus SWMBO has decreed that as she has to put up with Sport at
the weekends the midweek games idea ain't gonna fly....

The issue with trying to appeal to the modern youth as an
audience is their abundance of alternative options, combined
with a frequent short attention span and a pursuit of the next
big thing. Even if they did become interested enough to watch a
few games, how long until the next shiny stone catches their
       eye.
Better to cater to your existing audience and grow it
       organically IMO.

       That's not going to work.
The existing audience is ageing - this is true for several
sports. You have to reverse that trend for long term survival.
The sports that have done so are appealing to a younger audience
and women. For rugby, the women's competitions and things like
the Big Game are the right approach - even if I happen not to be
       a massive BG fan.
