I have the short sleeve version too.
I'm sure it was supposed to be for a Big Game. I too seem to
remember that there was some controversy and furor with the
Household Cav just before and the charity partner was charged at
the last minute.

I have Danny Care's BG6 shirt and the caption in the frame from
the club says:

Harlequins v Exeter Chiefs
Saturday 28th December 2013
Twickenham Stadium
The Household Cavalry playing shirt of
Danny Care
