It was Kevin Sinfield who proposed it. A man that has never
played top level Union.

Neither has Shaun Edwards but most people seem to think he knows
what he's talking about.

I always think of Edwards as Mr Motivator rather than a tactical
guru.

Sinfield became an England coach after what, 18 months of union
coaching at Tigers? Edwards was at Wasps for 6-7 years before he
became an international coach.

All true but he still hasn't played top level Union. If by top
level we're talking about playing for a senior international
team, neither has Eddie. Or Cheika. They've been pretty
successful coaches though.

Marcus is the most talented player to come through the ranks at
Quins -
someone needs to put their arms around him, tell him how good he
is and to go out and express himself at fly half ............

When it comes to Union, Jones and Cheika played 100s of games of
decent level club rugby and played in either France or England
at some point too. Sinfield played half a season for Yorkshire
Carnegie. It’s not comparable.

I think it's all about how you measure success as well though.
Neither have won a WC as a head coach. I know that Eddie was
part of the coaching team for the Bok's in 2007 and got to two
finals as an HC but proof is in the pudding, as always. There
are certain coaches, in all sports, where it's all about them
and as a result, their teams will never win the big ticket
tournament even if they have a fantastic squad of players
because they fail to see it beyond their own minds.
We have some in club rugby as well, but Eddie & Cheika are
definitely in that bracket.

I don't think most coaches have played at the "top" level
winning world cups.

Come on now. In an era with relatively few international matches
they were top players.
Sinfield has very little relevant experience as a player or a
coach.
