       Quins Sign Harry Williams

Harlequins is delighted to announce the signing of tighthead
prop Harry Williams ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
The 19-cap England prop signs at The Stoop from Top 14 outfit
Section Paloise (Pau) adding strength and experience to Danny
       Wilson’s front row options.
Williams joins Quins after a two-year spell in France's top tier
having played for Montpellier in the Top 14 during the 2023/24
season, prior to his move to Pau.
Born and raised in South London, Williams attended Whitgift
School before embarking on his journey in the professional game
saw the tighthead play for Wasps, Nottingham and Jersey Reds,
before landing in the West Country where he would excel with
       Exeter Chiefs.
In an eight-year spell at Sandy Park, the now 33-year-old made
162 appearances and played a pivotal role in the most successful
       period in the Club’s history.
Williams featured heavily throughout campaigns that saw the West
Country club crowned Premiership champions in 2017, before
completing an historic Domestic and European Cup double in 2020.
“I’m excited to be returning to the Premiership and joining
Harlequins - it’s a great club with a huge fanbase,” said
       Williams.
“When the opportunity came up it felt like a great fit for me
and feels like I’m coming home having grown up nearby in South
London. I can’t wait to get started, give my all for the Club
and learn from a top scrum coach in Adam Jones.
“Harlequins were the first team I ever went to watch with my Dad
when I was younger, so the move feels like a full circle moment
       – I’m super excited to run out and play at The Stoop.”
Head Coach Danny Wilson added: “Harry is a great addition to our
forward pack heading into next season. He’s a proven tighthead
with experience at the top level of the game and adds depth to
       our front row options.
“He’s a powerful ball carrier and top scrummager, which will
help us set a platform to play our style of rugby. We’re looking
forward to welcoming Harry into the Club this summer.”

Think he will be a good addition, as it won't be hard to eclipse
the contributions of Dhillon Lewis as they've been few and far
between. It's a shame its not someone younger though, but maybe
biding our time until we can offer a nice contract for Fasogbon
from Gloucester. Having him and Baxter here would be a delight
       for club and country.

Kind of puts the kybosh on the rumours that Bomb would be
       leaving there!

Not a young man, but he's a proven quality operator. Nice for
the youngsters to learn from too probably. I think it's a good
signing as I can't imagine he's going to be costing a fortune or
away playing internationals 👍 I also like the fact that
he's a Sarf London boy, shame it was Whitgift but you can't have
       everything....

Very happy with that. Suggested having him many moons ago on
here (I accept lots disagreed) and I still think he can do a job
       for us.

We have Hobson coming through and think he will make an impact
next season - so with Titi and now Williams that's three solid
tightheads. Not sure if Kerrod is staying another season?

Likewise any thought of Wilson going when it mentions boosting
       Wilsons Front Row options.

I'm happy to take Bomb's word for any front-row signing, props
especially, though I do wonder whether the most recent crop of
signings were in the category of "get the best you can for the
money." Perhaps the thinking is to have Williams and Titi for
another year or two before Hobson is ready to be first choice.

I'm underwhelmed by this. I don't see Willliams as an obvious
upgrade on Titi. Feels like a sticking plaster signing, rather
than building a squad capable of challenging.
We now also have two tigjtheads who don't offer a huge amount in
       the loose.
A strong scrum was a real feature of our Prem success and
European runs, and we just haven't seen Dombrandt and our backs
given a reliable attacking platform of late. I was hoping
significant investment in our prop options on both sides.
Hope I'm proven wrong of course.
And as others have suggested, maybe Hobson is expected to really
breakthrough next year and play a lot more minutes.

Interesting. I don’t see Williams as a particularly strong
scrummaging prop. I think of him as more of a tight carrying,
       ruck hitting type of prop.
Not one I’m particularly excited about but maybe we’ll be
       pleasantly surprised.
