It doesn’t say which kind of tax is owed. Just for balance, it
can be very easy to run up a tax bill without being greedy or
negligent. Covid killed huge amounts of hospitality businesses.
Trying to keep a business afloat when the income is cut off
quite often results in using the money for tax on overheads and
other expenses. Not everybody who has HMRC after them is dodging
taxes. Having run a small business I know how easy it can be to
get into difficulty through situations beyond your control.

Your experience and opinion respected. Mine is different, met
him a couple of times been great with kids always happy to sign
and have pics taken. Family member did some work with RFU on
some equality research and spoke to him a lot. Found him polite
articulate and genuinely caring but passionate about equality.
Others I know and met him felt same. Just my experience and
opinion.

It's kind of understandable that a man whose business has
collapsed and is facing bankruptcy proceedings might be a bit
bitter, I suppose.

IIRC from looking at the accounts available, there was a year
where a large was withdrawn, possibly linked to his divorce. The
implication being it's likely related to personal tax.
Also, having shown only one employee for most of the time, it's
hard to believe that it's anything but poor management, rather
than bad luck.
Just my opinion of course.

I remember him writing a fairly nuanced piece about it. "Kicking
off" seems some way off the mark. He had a piece on BT and an
article in the paper, and that was about it.
