Harlequins Director of Rugby Billy Millard has informed the Club
he will leave at the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.
Millard first arrived at The Stoop in 2018 as General Manager,
before transitioning into Director of Performance in 2021 and
then into his current role as Director of Rugby 2023.
The Australian led the Club through a huge period of transition
in 2020/21 as the Quarters lifted the Gallagher Premiership
trophy for the second time in their history after a memorable
campaign, which culminated in a 40-38 victory over Exeter Chiefs
       at Allianz Stadium.
The following season saw Quins finish third and secure a return
to the play-offs in consecutive seasons, before bowing out at
the semi-final stages to finalists Saracens.
More recently, Millard was at the helm of the men’s programme as
the Club reached the final four of the Investec Champions Cup,
narrowly losing out to eventual winners Toulouse in France.
Throughout his time at the Club, Millard has overseen both the
men’s and women’s programmes, working closely with the women’s
management team to help develop the programme into a play-off
       contender once again.
Harlequins Chief-Executive Officer, Laurie Dalrymple said: “We
would like to thank Billy for his dedication and contributions
to our Club throughout his tenure at The Stoop. His leadership,
vision, and passion for the game has helped shape our team and
foster a great culture across the Club, leading to significant
success on the pitch. While we are sad to see Billy go, we wish
him and his family well as they embark on a new chapter at the
       end of the season.
“Whilst we will look to review and recruit as necessary,
following Billy’s departure, the focus for everyone at the Club
remains the same - finishing as strongly as possible across both
competitions that we continue to compete in.”
Director of Rugby Billy Millard said: “This decision is not one
that’s been made lightly, but I am in a position to take on a
new challenge in my rugby career, whilst spending time on a
       family project.
“My time at Harlequins has been nothing short of amazing, and I
cannot thank the board, staff, players, and supporters enough
for creating so many memories and friendships for my family and
myself. I will continue to support everyone at the Club and
drive all areas forward until the end of the season.”
Everyone associated with Harlequins would like to thank Billy
for his contribution to the Club and wish him, and his family
       the best for the future.

Fare well Billy, always came across well, and no doubt among
other things he was a part of our 20/21 win. It does feell like
the time is right for us and him. I do wonder if it was a jump
or push thing, especially given the timing of season ticket
sales. Given that it is probable that Wilson will go at some
point too, I have said before and I will say it again I quite
fancy a Declan Kidney DOR and Les Kiss HC combo, I am sure there
will now start the endless run of speculation and possibilities
that is always fun in these circumstances.

I wonder if this is the move to take over Rugby Australia after
       the Lions tour?
Probably means Wilson won't go now though, too much upheaval.
Unless that's what it was all about, of course. Anyway, thanks
Billy for your leadership over the last 7 years it has been a
hell of a ride and 20/21, your bold decisions to remove a head
coach who wasn't working and trusting the coaching group and
players to run with it, were truly inspired. Good luck to you
and your family in your next venture.

Let’s hope we actually search far and wide for a replacement.
Anyone who has read DCs book will have read how the appointment
from within of JK after a world wide search went down with the
       players, doomed from the start!
So who do we fancy to take over I’d love to see Gregor Townsend
but as likely as catching the tooth fairy.
       Who is realistic but exciting
