Wise decision. Its fairly obvious cricket suffered from
vanishing off free-to-air and in an effort to try and stay
relevant and attract new fans embraced a type of game (The
hundred) which has ironically hindered the ODI side of things in
particular where we are pretty much a international
embarrassment. Staying on free to air might not cause more
growth for rugby union, but it certainly helps prevent a nail in
       the coffin.

Not quite the same deal as the current one.
BBC are locked out of ALL England matches, including those where
Wales or Scotland are at home to them.
So instead BBC will show and away Scotland fixture when Wales
are playing home to England and away Wales fixture when Scotland
       are at home to England.

It's quite simple really, even after 3 G&T's I can understand
       it.
I think it is good, the 6 Nations stays on free to air, the
biggest market, England, is always shown on commercial
advertisement funded TV, the other games are funded out of our
TV tax on the Bolshevik Broadcasting Commentariat.
       Win Win really
It would be disastrous for rugby to go behind a pay wall
entirely. But on the other hand the game needs to make as much
money as it can. This seems like a sensible compromise.

Whilst I realise I'm in a(n (unprotected)) minority here being
vaguely right of centre, can you name me one BBC
reporter/presenter in the last 20 years who you think might have
       ever voted Conservative?

Apart from the promotions of Kuenssberg, Neil and and most of
the Directors to prominent positions. Followed by the punishment
of any presenter who dared criticise the Conservative
       government.
Can you identify a sports (rugby) commentator who has been
       punished for voting conservative?

Sorry of i was not clear. ITV have every England match,
regardless if at home or away.
BBC have swapped the Wales and Scotland home fixtures against
England with one of Scotland and Wales away fixtures per year.
