Yes, I've always thought that was a bit of a contradiction. Our
10 is the best but he needs all his mates around him.
That said, it is then quite galling to see F Smith given that
treatment!
I think rather than being surrounded by the type of player you
gel with, of far more importance is picking players who suit the
chosen game plan. Last time against Scotland JVP or Spencer
would have been a much better selection than Mitchell. Likewise,
little point is playing Marcus if you just want to kick
everything away

Or maybe, if the starting 10 has failed to make any headway,
bring on Marcus, light blue touch paper, stand back and admire.

It's just so bloody depressing, the one bright spark of decent
call on hand play though the autumn was Marcus and now he's
dropped from the starting 15, for what reason? Because he isn't
a full back? They surely knew that he wasn't the best under a
high ball before they played him there? If that's all you want
play Freddie Steward. Daly isn't the answer to the problem. Fin
Smith hasn't set the back line alive during either game. We
actually looked better against Ireland than Scotland or France,
but we lost because Ireland are a better team. Wiggelsworth and
Borekick are out of their depths and don't have a clue about
attacking rugby....

I'd prefer that you get at least a couple of seasons coaching
Quins under your belt first, maybe under Jammy Git as head
coach.

Good piece by Ugo in the Guardian. Basically as long as
Borthwick is coach there is nothing much Marcus can do. He just
sees the game differently.
