Is it more existential than just Wilson though? We moan at
England not being able to get the best out of the exceptional
attacking talent available but aren't we the same?
Do we need to get different voices and approaches into the whole
coaching set up, not just HC? This may happen if Bomb goes to
wales permanently although the scrum is excellent so don't think
that's the issue.
Is Marcus too comfortable with nEV and nEV not pushing him
enough? Lineout is much improved but still has it's wobbles.
Defence is never the same two games running.
To lose Marler, Marchant, Andre & Collier is bound to have an
effect. Tyrone still not the player he was in 21 & some of 22.
Wingers not scoring regularly enough, look at Murley and Lynagh
when in tandem, always scored pretty much every game but not the
same at the moment.
Dommers is an excellent and consistent performer for us and
clearly has respect within the team so I don't think it's his
leadership that's the issue, more the form of those around him.
DC, sadly, isn't having an onfield impact anymore but appears to
be behind the scenes but I suspect he'll disappear completely to
chase his media career (and why shouldn't he).
Young players now coming through in certain areas so no proven
depth like other sides seem to have.
So many questions, not many answers. But to be true to the
thread, Wilson hasn't shown enough for me. Well, no more than
Tabai so should follow the same way but does two HC on the trot
failing to get the best out of this group mean it's not just
them???

I still don't understand how Wilson got the gig tbh. My feeling
is he is a great tracksuit coach but not head coach material.
Maybe with a DoR like Conor O'Shea figure was above him making
the big calls things would be different?

But we managed to get to the European semifinal last year
beating big French teams in France. I suppose that only shows
the inconsistency as we didn’t make the Premiership playoffs
which would probably have been the easier competition.

Lawday is a great shout for the latter. Fin Baxter will probably
be captaining Quins in the coming years. Lewies is a good leader
but never fit.

I think Dombrandt is a good captain. He certainly leads by
example and I think he’s generally pretty good with referees.
Unfortunately he’s in that annoying limbo zone with England
where he’s not in but he’s not out which is the worst case
scenario for him and for us. Same for Beard and Murley really.
Agreed on Lawday. He seems to have been a bit marginalised by
Wilson which is strange considering that he is rarely less than
very good when he plays. Chis is also influential and I think
we’re missing him right now.
Also agreed on Baxter but way too soon for that.
Re. Wilson, I don’t think it’s solely down to him. As
@BansteadQuin and others have said, the inconsistency is quite
typical of Quins sides under other coaches too. However, I don’t
think he’s ever been the right hire so I wouldn’t be
disappointed to see him go.
I disagree on the signings. Isgro has been a great pick up and
Petti should be a cracking acquisition. Treadwell isn’t flashy
but is a very decent player who I would rate more highly than a
few of our current options. Not sure how much these are down to
Wilson though …

Wilson got the job because he's Millard's mate.
Launchbury joined us to try to get back into the England squad
and hasn't looked fit or interested since

I look at our squad and it’s weaker than 3 years ago while
others have strengthened. However, on paper, there is too much
talent for the kind of season we are having. If the coaching
staff can’t get a better tune out of this group, I’m not
confident they will do better with known incomings.

Tough one.
I’d say Bath are the biggest stock risers, along with Bristol.
Gloucester are showing signs of improvement. Tigers and Sale are
about par being “there or there abouts”. Saints probably will be
disappointed with this season following last, but have some good
solid foundations and I think Vesty will be the right man.
Exeter and us are the biggest drops in ability to compete (sadly
Falcons no change).

Maybe as a development competition we should have treated it
like that
Both Sarries games we put out as near as available full strength
side
Same last night
Almost like we hoped this would be one competition we could do
well in, and we know how that went
