Is Danny Wilson’s time up?

Is it time to move on from Danny Wilson or are there positives
on the horizon?

My opinion is it is time to move on. Lack of positivity around
transfers. Poor performances in my view with little progress.

It was up about this time last year but no one believed me. The
fact we’ve lost to two of our rivals second sides in the main
whilst taking it as seriously as we can shows how far we are
from being a good side.

We need to judge at the end of the season, but assuming we don't
make a lazarus like comeback and make top four then yes, I'd
move on.
Our tight five is sub par and its worth noting that recruitment
isn't down to just the Head Coach, but ultimately performances
haven't been good enough and Wilson's back catalogue doesn't
suggest he's worth persevering with. Glasgow fans were quite
happy to get shot.

Is this year too far gone? Second halves have been a consistent
disappointment I feel.
I will be there every game next season, but I can’t say I feel
hopeful.

I think when the wind is blowing in the right direction so to
speak we can beat anyone, but that’s dependent on our best team,
and with a bit of luck. Outside of that we struggle to go toe to
toe with sides who have slowly built up over the years whilst
we’ve recruited and coached poorly.
We need another rebuild, new ideas, new faces, and better on
field leadership. Let’s be honest, we’ve not had a good captain
since Robshaw.

As just posted on the other thread, the issue for me is a focus
for what the team is about. This is a coaching issue. It’s
difficult with key leaders drifting off to England but there so
little character and leadership without them. It’s a phase, but
where are the leaders?

Launchbury is the biggest let down in that respect. Not 100%
without googling but I’m sure he was Wasps club captain, but
hasn’t demonstrated those skills here. I’d say he’s been no more
influential than Charlie Matthews from seasons gone by.
For me Lawday seems to be a good match for a captain; but
realistically I think we need to find someone who’s going to not
be necessarily away with internationals constantly and being a
regular starter. I think ultimately we might need to bring
someone in for that, as I’m not sure who it would be from our
current crop.

The best captaincy option is usually going to be someone who is
going to be away with England. Look at the successful captains
over the years in English club rugby.
What you need is an outstanding captain and an excellent
lieutenant or two who can take over when they're unavailable.
Lawday is a great shout for the latter. Fin Baxter will probably
be captaining Quins in the coming years. Lewies is a good leader
but never fit.

Wilson has never been a successful head coach anywhere and our
results are continuing that trend
Be better off leaving Nick Evans in charge
