       PWR Semi-final: Saracens v Quins
   DIR By: poorfour
       Date: February 28, 2025, 5:04 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Harlequins Women have named their side for tomorrow's
Premiership Women's Rugby semi-final against Saracens at StoneX
Stadium. (Saturday, 1 March, 15:00 – live on TNT Sports).
There are four personnel changes in the starting XV ahead of
       Quins' first semi-final since 2022.
In the pack, Tyla Shirley comes in to start in the second-row
alongside Danelle Lochner, as Abbie Fleming moves to openside
flanker. She is joined in the back-row by Sarah Bonar and
returning captain, Jade Konkel, as part of an all-international
       trio.
Emma Swords comes into the side to start at scrum-half, with
Clàudia Peña moving to the left wing and Sarah Parry starting at
outside centre, after her try-scoring cameo off the bench last
       weekend.
Amongst the replacements, there are returns to the 23 for Jessie
Spurrier, along with Lauren Torley and Babalwa Latsha.
Ahead of the semi-final, Head Coach Ross Chisholm said:
"Our ability to learn gives us confidence heading into Saturday.
We know that this is semi-final rugby and it's a one-off game,
where the better team on the day will be the one who wins. It's
going to be a physical match, but it's a game that we are really
relishing and an opportunity that massively excites us. It's
going to be about making sure we take those chances when the big
       moments come."
       15. Kildunne
       14. Wilcock
       13. Parry
       12. Tuima
       11. Pena
       10. K. Powell
       9. Swords
       1. Turani
       2. C Powell
       3. Hanlon
       4. Shirley
       5. Lochner
       6. Bonar
       7. Fleming
       8. Konkel (C)
       16. Phillips
       17. Spurrier
       18. Delgado
       19. Millar-Mills
       20. Latsha
       21. Aucken
       22. Torley
       23. Neumann
No Lucy Packer, and we're so light on back rows that we have
Latsha, primarily a prop, at 20. Could be a tough day at the
StoneX, but considering where the squad started from in the
summer it's been a great season

Alysha Corrigan is anticipating a gritty London derby as
Saracens host Harlequins at the StoneX Stadium in the PWR
       play-off semi-final.
The winger returns from international duty and is expecting an
almighty tussle for a place in the final against near neighbours
Quins in front of a raucous home crowd.
Director of Rugby Alex Austerberry makes five changes from the
side that beat Sale Sharks last Friday night. One of which is in
the front row, Akina Gondwe and May Campbell are reunited with
Kelsey Clifford who returns to the match day squad at tight
       head.
The second row partnership remains unchanged with Red Roses lock
Rosie Galligan starting alongside Louise McMillan after her
impressive score and performance against the Sharks. One change
in the back-row sees Georgia Evans return to the starting XV,
she's alongside co-captain Marlie Packer at openside and Poppy
Cleall who rounds off the pack at number eight.
Ella Wyrwas swaps with Tori Sellors to start alongside Zoe
Harrison. Sophie Bridger also returns to the fold in the
midfield taking up a place alongside Emma Hardy who continues at
       13. Co-captain Lotte Sharp is fit to start on the left wing,
with Corrigan returning on the right. Jess Breach rounds off the
team starting at full-back for the third consecutive match.
Amongst the bench, Saracens have named a multitude of impact
players including five senior internationals. After being named
PWR player of the round last time out Gabrielle Senft features
alongside fellow try scorers from Friday night McKinley Hunt,
       Bryony Cleall and Sydney Gregson.
Having competed in knockout games for the North London outfit
during previous campaigns, Corrigan can't wait to face Quins in
       the semi-final on Saturday.
"It's always going to be an exciting battle against Harlequins.
We know it will be a tough test, but the team have trained
really well this week and I can't wait to hear the backing of
the StoneX crowd come Saturday afternoon."

Got a horrible feeling it’s going to be the mullered option with
all our key injuries. Hope I’m proved completely wrong.

I do too. The saving grace is that the Sarries squad has a few
less familiar names in it too.

My only takeaway is that according to Sarries, they have trained
       really well this week.
That is normally code for "we are a shambles".
So, we live in hope . . .

They must be building something special- and not houses to give
       to their players.

According to the squad list above we must be confident as we are
playing without a 9 at all. Let’s hope they have an off day and
we really play well. Nothing to lose and it’s good season
overall to get to the playoffs. Injuries have had a large impact
this end of the season and we fell away a bit. Will be watching
       and willing them on tomorrow.

Very poor call by the ref there - called the try when there is
no way she could have seen the grounding. She’s been much
harsher on Quins than Sarries throughout.
For instance, she just told the captains to stop the backchat,
and immediately after Marlie Packer starts talking to her with
no sanction. If you’re going to say “This stops now” you have to
       be prepared to enforce it.
