Very good news. Am surprised as he clearly doesn't see Dommers
as an 8 option, else he'd be in there. But still good news for
       him

Highly deserved after being the best player on the pitch by some
       margin against Sarries.

We all know that the England strategy is as follows:
       a) Pick Marcus
       b) Pick players who know Marcus and are on his wavelength
       c) Start Marcus at 10 with a bunch of players who aren't
       remotely on his wavelength
       d) Move Marcus to 15 or the bench
       e) Put other Quins players on out of position and ask them to
       play conventionally
       f) Play the Saints backline and watch the press fawn over Fin.
...more seriously, I really don't get why neither Eddie nor
Borthwick seem to have made more than a token effort to put a
team on the pitch that can play to Quins' strengths.

I hate to drift into MaidstoneQuin territory but I'm not sure
the current Quins squad could or should influence England
selection policy when we've been a mid-table side the past few
       seasons...
I know what point you're trying to make - and Eddie didn't do it
back when we had that bananas, helter-skelter Premiership title
run. That's arguably when the 8/9/10 Quins axis was unplayable -
so it would have been nice to see Dommers given a run at 8 for
England with Marcus then, as they were telepathic and it was a
       huge factor in our success.
Nowadays, though, most would agree that the Saints backline are
in there on merit and there aren't as many of our lot putting
their hands up week in, week out.

We all know how the lag works with England squad selections
though - and I know you know. More Bath players have started to
filter through and by next year they'll be starting to make up
the dominant numbers... and so it will Bath's turn to languish
towards the bottom of the table. [emoji28]

Borethick seems to have a blueprint that starts and finishes
with "the Saracens Way" plua some of "the Leicester Way" (just
for a little variety), so I'm not sure anything else matters.
Surely the players are selected for (a) their relationship to
one or other of those clubs, or (b) their ability/willingness to
play in that style. Marcus' selection of late has been the only
obvious exception, and even that (one suspects) was because of a
public clamouring, with Borethick having half an eye on keeping
his job if he ignored it.

Ad nauseum time. System and style first, players second.
If England look better without Marcus and challenge for 6Ns &
WCs then fine, we'd all be happy as Englishmen that we are back
on top of the NH pile. So either don't pick him and play more to
the coaching strength's or pick him and give him the weapon's he
needs. This halfway house nonsense isn't helping anyone, least
       of all my ulcers!!!!
Same could be said for other players in the team as well and the
Northampton players don't look as good as they did last season,
when in a white shirt. Attacking game plan too limited, so just
get Youngs & Farrell back and kick the leather off of
       everything.
