Teams are up for the women's game tomorrow - strong teams from
both sides.
Harlequins have made five changes as they prepare to welcome
Bristol Bears Women to The Stoop under the Friday Night Lights
(Friday 14 February 14, 19:45 – live on TNT Sports, BBC iPlayer
and BBC Sport Website).
The two sides are set to lock horns on Friday night in front of
a staggering 6,000 supporters in TW2 with subplots aplenty
across the park.
Head Coach Ross Chisholm is boosted by the return of three key
squad members as skipper Jade Konkel starts at the base of the
scrum, Danelle Lochner is named in the engine room and Kayleigh
Powell returns to orchestrate the side from fly-half.
Elsewhere in the pack, Sarah Bonar comes into the starting
line-up at blindside flanker which sees Maddy Grant switch to
openside for the Valentine’s Day contest.
In the backline, Beth Wilcock returns to the starting XV on the
right wing. Spanish pocket rocket, Clàudia Pẽna shifts
into the midfield at outside centre to partner the experienced
Lagi Tuima.
Freya Aucken returns to the wider matchday squad as an impact
player.
Head Coach, Ross Chisholm said: “We’re looking forward to the
opportunity this Friday night. I think it’s going to be an
amazing occasion - both teams have got something riding on it,
which is awesome.
“We have spoken a lot this week about backing up our performance
down at Sandy Park and our focus now shifts to Bristol Bears as
we aim to build momentum and take a step towards securing a home
semi-final.”

Dave Ward makes just one change to his starting XV for Friday
night’s PWR showdown with Harlequins at The Stoop (7.45pm KO,
live on TNT Sports & BBC iPlayer).
Hannah Botterman comes into the front row for the Bears’ final
game of the regular season as they target a win that could seal
their place in the end of season play-offs.
Ilona Maher continues on the wing after her brace of tries in
last weekend’s thumping of Exeter Chiefs at Ashton Gate, while
hat-trick hero Lark Atkin-Davies lines up at hooker once again.
Amber Reed, fresh from a starring role on her return from injury
last weekend, co-captains the side from the midfield, alongside
Red Roses lock Abbie Ward.
Head Coach, Dave Ward, said: “Last weekend against Exeter, we
really showed what we can do on both sides of the ball – and
we’ll need more of the same against an impressive Quins side who
have been in that top two throughout the season.
“It’s a huge for us, there’s no shying away from that, but we’ve
spoken about rising to the occasion and delivering another big
performance.”

They're not free. They're included in your season ticket the
same way that tickets for the men's game are, and IIRC from last
year's state of the nation they allocate a share of the season
ticket revenue to the women's team.
But given the antipathy on here from some quarters (pun
intended) of the fanbase, I think it's reasonable to assume that
those 6,000 tickets don't represent 70% of the STH taking up
their entitlement.

It’s quite likely the Maher effect that has increased the ticket
sales to a fantastic level. Let’s hope it carries on encouraging
spectators to go to watch women’s rugby.

FWIW, my brother is a STH with a couple of mates. They wouldn't
be going to the game so by your reckoning (I assume) the seats
would be incorrectly accounted for as used.
Except we're using the seats as my wife and daughter want to
watch. They've only been to men's matches when it's Big Game but
having been to a Red Roses match, they are excited to see Ellie
play again and Mrs Yareet is fully bought into the Ilona cult.

Ah, so the 6,000 doesn't include STHs who are already entitled
to a ticket. That's all I was asking; I wasn't trying to start
an argument about women's rugby funding.
