Sorry - my previous post came out a bit more harshly than it
should have. I completely understand the dilemma that people who
can’t make all the games face, and if the rational choice for
you is not to be an STH then it is a call you have to make-
though it’s worth checking whether it works financially if you
use ticket reasale on the games you can’t make.
The issue for fans is that many of us became season ticket
holders when the club was pricing them to achieve revenue
stability and grow the fan base, but now the Stoop sells out on
a regular basis (and they still aren’t reliably profitable) they
are having to switch to maximising revenue. I’d expect a couple
of years in which prices rise quite a bit, and then it should
find a new equilibrium where a further hike would lead to a
decline in STs. We joined when supply exceeded demand, but now
demand exceeds supply.

Why on Earth dont they just rebuild the Stadium as mooted and
provide more seats then?

Going by the accounts and also recent talks club was about to go
into the Black
Now obviously the priority if profit, understandably
And with a waiting list of course the old “ You are such great
fans, thanks for all you do “ etc goes out the window
Happy for those that can afford to pay more, but you know what I
think about the ones that have followed the club regardless
through the highs and lows for many years that won’t be able to
stomach, another seat category upgrade

Fans want Profitability. Fans want someone else to pay for it.

Well no, if I decide I can't afford it that's fine. But now my
season ticket gets me my seat in gold for £69 a match if I make
it to every men's Prem, Cup and European group game plus the
random friendly in February.
My seat on Sat against Sarries retails at £50. For the game
against Sale it's an eye-watering £84.
So, it's just that the maths doesn't really make sense for me to
keep my season ticket if I'm approaching it from a value for
money perspective.
If I bought the same seat at face value for all those games
(think Europe was £70 but lets pretend they were £84 as well and
some of the Prem home games they weren't as high as £84), it
would cost me max £1124 (give or take) for the season as opposed
to the £1035 I pay.
Yes I know the offering is also the women's team but that wasn't
a thing when I first started going and while I'm a big fan I
can't get to that many rugby matches on top of the main reason I
started going to the Stoop.
So all Im saying is the season ticket offer really needs to talk
about things in a different way soon -- coz what I'm not getting
is a financial reward for my loyalty in buying it. There may be
other rewards, but financial isn't one of them anymore.

That's a good point. The marketing has shifted somewhat in
recent years to more of a "secure your seat" message, but it
could probably go further. Might be worth bringing up at the
State of Play session?

Backdoor way by the club to get more money out of loyal ST
holders, as they know even if they are priced out, someone else
will want it, (who will have the money, so stuff the fan!)
Looking forward to our big recruitment drive under the expansion
of the cap, as having one of the most expensive STs in the
league, obviously that's going to reflect ambition overall..
Good start with the Argie, but we've had a few years of failure
in that department and with higher costs the expectation of
making more a go of it will increase.

In an analogy appropriate for 'Quins reputation, it's similar to
buying en Primeur wine or a barrel of whisky in bond. Originally
you got a discount for paying up front which helps with cashflow
however once demand exceeds supply, you then do it just to make
sure you get some at all. FOMO.
I understand why Quins are doing it and in principle I approve.
The minor issue I have is that I originally chose my seat 2
categories down from the top to balance affordability and view.
With the reclassification I'll be paying tier one prices for a
less than tier one view.

That all doesn't make sense right?
This isn't about the salary cap, it is about profitability.
The club could spend £100 million on a marquee play - but they
would go massively into debt to do it.
The club says that it spend up to the cap - but, somehow they
need to balance the books. That means that we have to either get
more money from the fans and/or more from elsewhere. This post
is just saying that the club are gonna try to get more from the
fans.
- so, I don't see why salary cap, recruitment, club ambition,
etc come in to it.

Personally, being a tight fisted barsteward, any price increase
goes against my instincts. However, wanting to continue to be
part of the whole Quins thing far outweighs any reservations I
may have.
Also, if I thought the Club was being mis-managed I would be
proclaiming it from the highest Minaret, but it isn't.
