My fleeting interest in resuscitating the Plastics is tempered
by 2 things:-
Firstly, its Jordans son that is behind this and he talks about
some wacky fan investment/subscription programme to provide the
Finance.
Secondly, do Irish still have Title to Hazelwood even in
Administration, and therefore, is this just yet another Property
Developer chancer?

See @Camquin above. LIRFC in its various corporate forms are
still in administration, and therefore have title to nowt. It
would appear that companies associated with EJ have only
purchased the IP and branding. Hazelwood is still available for
I believe £16.4 Mn.
I know little about EJ other than he supported LI, and made his
fortune in F1 racing, via the eponymous Jordan team. I'd bet my
last dollar he'd NOT be interested in any property spruiking.
Others might of course, even although Hazelwood is covenanted to
be a sports ground ad infinitum.
Personally I don't think (as others have stated) that there's
sufficient potential demand for 3 London based GP teams. That's
why a London based URC team with Saffer interest MIGHT be
viable. Either way this is a LONG term project. Glad to be
proven wrong though.

Deaders, I may be extrapolating too much from one line of
internet copy but it seems that we want teams to come back only
if they have the facilities in place but anyone who resources a
club with facilities is branded as a potential property chancer.
I get that we are all bitten by the Worcester debacle but
personally I can't see how any club comes into pro rugby without
a training ground.

My daughter's club are clustered with LI Amateurs, so we train
at Hazelwood fairly regularly. What the people there have said
is that it's owned by the amateur club. Presumably they'd be
happy to have the putative pros train there (it's a fantastic
site) but would want to keep the ownership separate to protect
the community side of things.

I don't agree. If you are spectating, it's quite a long walk out
to the pitch. No stand. Get behind someone taller than you and
you won't see a thing.
What was wrong with the old site? You walked down some steps in
the middle of the stand and you were in the bar!

It’s not a long walk out to the main pitch at Hazelwood. It’s
the first one you come to after leaving the bar. After that the
artificial pitch. It’s a long walk to the furthest pitches but
which other ground has that many. I think it’s one of the best
rugby club grounds I’ve been to. But it was attached to a
Premiership team.

I was thinking of it in terms of being a training facility,
which is what it would be for LI; they'd need access to a proper
stadium for matchdays.

I thought we were discussing London Irish - the professional
side coming back to play at Sunbury?
We won't be playing for the professional side - but we might be
spectating.
Facilities for spectators when there are more than a hundred or
so watching are poor. As I said get behind some big bloke and
you ain't going to see a thing.

You might have been talking about that. I wasn’t. As is evident
to all of us, Hazelwood is not a suitable site for a
professional team to host matches. But it is an excellent site
for a pro team to train at, which is one of the purposes it was
designed for.
