Difficult when you don't see any further info on it, like
possible bone damage needs a scan. Else saying he's been
dropped, without saying he's been dropped

Definitely one to miss, but I do hope he gets another shot soon
to put those errors behind him, and prove those who don’t watch
him week in week out wrong.

A number of sources now leaking that Marcus will be at 15 this
week with Fin Smith starting at 10. I can't see Borthwick
putting Ford on the bench with both Smiths on the pitch, so it's
most likely a 6-2 split in the replacements.

Cadan just had a very rare "bad day at the office". Pity it was
on his England debut... he would probably have been very nervous
too. Hopefully Borthwick takes that into account AND the fact he
scored a try and assisted another.

It really annoys me that it keeps on being reported that he made
2 mistakes in the dead ball area.
Many people are jumping on what the commentators said at the
time and clearly do not understand the laws.
He only made 1 mistake in the dead ball area.
On the first one, he did really well to stop the ball going
dead, and he was close to being able to relieve the pressure by
kicking the ball.
What he had done wrong (as JG said earlier) was that he patted
the ball down rather than catch it when he was in the field of
play.
(The tendency for players to tap the ball back rather than
catching the ball is one thing that infuriates me!!)
I do wonder though if he actually made a mistake on the 2nd
time.
It was said that he simply had to drop on the ball - but, I am
not sure it was that simple as the ball was bouncing when he
took it, and from memory, it was at least at waist height.
I think that he could still have (and should have) taken it and
dotted it down - but, it wasn't as straight forward as the
commentators made it out to be.
So - I think it was as much "good follow up play from Ireland"
as it was a brain fade by Murley.

I am trying to remember whether either of the in goal moments
actually led to Ireland scoring - from what I can recall England
turned the ball over and cleared both times and Ireland's lead
came from line breaks in midfield and England penalties.

You're right PF, no score conceded off of either. Of course they
play it out but to be fair, they gave the same amount of
attention to Mitchell missing the tackle on Lowe. I love hearing
ex-players criticise current players, as I remember watching
them screw up on regular occasions. Seeing Austin Healey turned
over in his own 22 was a regular joy when he tried to be clever
and I doubt Ben Kay ever caught a ball outside of a lineout

Ireland...
