Good to see some squad players/youngsters stepping up. As
mentioned elsewhere, Waghorn and Benson look ready, Jones had a
decent game, Lawday played well, Cleaves is dangerous. Important
win for us.

Allow me to be a grump and say that Cleaves really should have
got as close to the posts as possible with his second. Thnings
like that bug the crap out of me. Plus he only has himself to
blame for not getting a hatrick. Don't want to be too harsh
though as it's fantastic to seem him back. He can also give a
decent interview without resorting to cliches.

10 turnovers won vs 3. 318 post contact metres vs 96 metres. 14
line breaks to 1(!) which tells you something about our attack
and our defence. 175 tackles at 93% success rate(!!)
Set piece and turnovers lost (ie drops and bad kicks) the only
things holding us back.
We definitely played pretty well!

I am not going to criticise Luke, he's normally a fantastic ref.
If I were the official rating his performance today, however, I
would mark his card as inconsistant, hurried, unclear and not up
to his own impeccable standard. A bizarrely off day, which
affected both sides, who struggled to interpret how he was
blowing. Everyone can have an off day. Its probably our problem,
because we are maybe 'too fair' and to an extent , IMHO, play
much better when Sir is in a nearly pedant mode, penalising
infractions more often. I feel we try to anticipate the whistle
which should ( 98%) come, and half relax, which often csuses
problems when it doesn't. Maybe something for the coaches to
analyse. That said a very enjoyalble match, where we struggled
at times but overall ( just) deserved the win.!

As annoying as he was, he only penalised us 4 times so there's
no doubt we got away with a lot given how often we got hands on
the ball.

I hope Wyn Jones has not broken his hand? Scrums deteriorated
once he went off. Made 12 tackles as well

Jones and Kerrod actually did a fairly good job. Waghorn
deserves a run, as he actually looks like a 12 as opposed to
trying to shoehorn a 13 in at inside centre. I think it would be
interesting to see how he and Northmore would work together

Back 3 looked v good, as we're centres. Lawday v good, and
kenningham
Care poor. Walker / lineout poor. Launchbury looks very unfit
Jev mixed bag. Poor kicking, didn't create loads but didn't do
much wrong either. Hopefully his arm / shoulder isn't too bad.
Benson looked decent
Created lots but bombed lots too. Frustrating game and I'd say
we were clearly the better side, but just couldn't finish them
off.
Gutsy showing though and great to get the 5 points.
Pearce allowing them to dive off feet all game was annoying
