Thanks for the compliments ESW. However feel that as your team
had already qualified for the last 16 the mental will was
somewhat lacking.

Yeah fair enough, it looked a lot clearer on the telly.

It's looking like Sale Sharks will have that joy, and Quins will
get Leinster.

meet you again in this competition this year (we went through a
phase of always being in Saracens' group and then also getting
them in the QFs... and it looks like with tomorrow's games still
to play we might be welcoming them to Scotstoun), so I'll wish
you all the very best.

The perils of trying to work these things out when several pints
deep! I take it back - if you could please beat Leinster in
Dublin, that would be jolly nice! And would mean we could
welcome you up to our place in the QFs!

It would be easier if you asked us for a space unicorn!

I could definitely understand that but I also agree with the
refs interpretation. In a normal lineout there is time for the
opposition to consider whether or not to compete but by throwing
quickly to the front you take away the choice unless they jump
early - which is a separate offence. So ensure it goes straight
for quick throws or say that competing is moving towards the
ball in anyway.
It is a tricky situation and I'm not sure about the variation -
they have at least legislated to stop you throwing to the
scrum-half by stating that it must be thrown to someone in the
lineout.

I think that the purpose of this law was just to speed the game
up by not stopping the game for a time consuming scrum if the
ball was not 100% straight.
I suspect that the refs will be less inclined to just "play-on"
when they think that a team is actively throwing skew to gain an
advantage.
