Retired

Well worth a listen, Joe is 'on' form, and Joes new Job.
A few things I picked up -
England Players now limited to 30 match involvements i.e an
involvement could be 1 minute!!, used to be 35 x 80 mins
apparantly....
Didnt like the way Quins were going
&
liked/got on with 4 players.......

He's been fairly vocal on twitter about us kicking it too much,
if that helps. Though not against Toulon obviously

Joe's got a new job. He's leading the discussions between the
England players and the RFU

Interestingly, in another of their pods where they interview the
former S&C coach from England (Tom Tombleson) he rated Marler as
the strongest rugby player he'd ever coached in terms of sheer
power in the gym. Quite the acolade. And also another "unit" we
will struggle to replace easily.

Just had the opportunity to listen to this pod and found it
quite interesting. I too recently changed career after a very
long time and had a similar set of feelings, knowing it was just
time to move on. So can empathise with him on that.
I do agree and often think where are our (Quins) innovative
moves, we seem to play the same pattern and kick for the corner.
Tap pens don’t have to be quick taps and can me multi phase
plays without the risks posed at lineouts. It also adds variety
and breaks up how predictable we are in the red zone.
He also seems to own the accountability of his relationship with
his team mates. He may have been a negative influence on the
team because of it.

He apparently feels he become the kind of player he hated -
dialling it in, only showing up for the cash, not really being a
good force in the dressing room etc.
As always with Joe, fair play for being honest about it and
doing something about it.
