No issues with that, I think with Porter being first choice, I’m
not sure we could bring in a high quality SH happy to play 2nd
       fiddle

Good news. One more year with Porter as 1st choice and Danny
supporting. Bed Friday in with a few more minutes where possible
and hopefully he'll then be able to step up when Danny calls it
       a day.

       Great news...
Hopefully puts the Raffi rumours to bed 🙏
In truth, Porter, Care and Friday is almost the perfect stable
       of 9s.

Agreed ..... Lucas Friday will be the new Danny Care going
forward. I just HOPE that he is not tempted by Saracens fat
cheque book down the road !

“Hopefully puts the Raffi rumours to bed”🙏
Don’t bank on it … Raffi Quirke is still the best like-for-like
replacement for Care … today’s news gives Quins more time to
       organise the long term succession
Will Porter is very much a Wasps style No.9 in the mould of Joe
Simpson & Dan Robson … ample pace but the other scrum-half
basics, i.e. kicking & passing, require work although his
box-kicking is coming along nicely and with the recent Law
changes making box-kicks more contestable this is increasingly
       important
Worryingly TNT displayed a graphic during the Gloucester game
which, I think, highlighted Quins poor record this season
converting entries into the opposition 22 into points … this is
an area where Care has always excelled, especially when he has a
penalty advantage to work with when he can employ the “kick to
score” option … Marcus, unfortunately, tends to use “kick to
score” all over the pitch without an advantage to fall back on
and this does tend to present the opposition with
       counter-attacking opportunities far too often
Also Porter is less confrontational with the opposition defence
which means opponents can “double up” on Marcus which reduces
       his effectiveness

Nah he's garbage. You're better going in for Harry Randall

Raffi Quirke is the best like-for-like replacement for Care
among today's senior Prem scrum halves. Quins do need a long
term successor, but the point of this thread is that an extra
year of DC gives them a chance to bring Lucas Friday up to the
point that he's ready to alternate with Porter. On his showings
this season, Friday is very reminiscent of Care when he first
arrived at Quins - but without the tendency to do really stupid
stuff that Care had to stamp out.
Friday is young, but so was Care when he arrived, and Quins have
historically been good at managing multiple talented scrum
halves with different skill sets. Care was rotated with Steve
So'aiolo and Andy Gomarsall when he arrived, and while he was
typically ahead of Karl Dickson when they were both here, there
were definite games and periods where Karl was preferred.
Friday (and Care while his legs last) will be more likely to
start a break; Porter has become one of the best at finishing
one, and as you say his kicking has developed to the point where
it works with the new laws.

I get the impression that the Quins ruck speed is quicker when
Care is on the field than when Porter is on the field.
I know that these speeds are recorded (by Opta?), but I wonder
if there is a breakdown by scrum half.
Does anyone have an Opta account?
