Team News: Quins name squad to take on Falcons
Harlequins have named their travelling squad to take on
Newcastle Falcons on Friday night in the first Gallagher
Premiership fixture of 2025 (Fri 03 Jan, 19:45).
Cadan Murley will captain the side at Kingston Park following
his two-try Player of the Match performance at Allianz Stadium
as Danny Wilson makes three changes to the starting XV.
Joe Launchbury steps up into the starting line-up at lock, while
Will Evans has been named at openside flanker and Will Porter
will start in the number nine jersey.
Lucas Friday and Ben Waghorn have been named amongst the impact
players for the journey to the North East and will make their
Gallagher Premiership debuts if introduced at Kingston Park.
Quins' front row of Fin Baxter, Jack Walker and Titi Lamositele
remains unchanged with Joe Laucnhbury and Dino Lamb completing
the tight-five.
Will Evans inclusion in the starting XV at openside sees Jack
Kenningham shift to blindside and James Chisholm start at No 8.
Will Porter starts at scrum-half, alongside Marcus Smith at
fly-half. The remainder of the backline is unchanged from last
weekend's enthralling encounter with Leicester Tigers as Luke
Northmore and Oscar Beard are partnered in the centres.
As mentioned, Murley captains the side on the left wing with
Rodrigo Isgro and Nick David completing the starting side.
Sam Riley, Wyn Jones and Dillon Lewis are Quins' front row
impact options, while Irne Herbst is also named in the
travelling cohort alongside Alex Dombrandt as Wilson continues
to rotate his strong back row options.
Lucas Friday and Ben Waghorn are in line to make their Gallagher
Premiership debuts and Jarrod Evans is also named as an impact
player for Friday night's contest.

Hmm interesting team. Resting a few before Toulon I guess hoping
we can squeak a win against a weaker side tomorrow.

Great to see Friday and Waghorn in the squad ! They have proved
themselves over & over again for Lon. Scottish. Hopefully, soon,
we will also see Roma Zheng in our XXIII too.

Zheng looked really lively when I saw him play recently. He's
also quite a big lad.
Hopefully the team will gel nicely. Back row will either be
superb or terrible. Let's hope Falcons don't put in the
performance they did against Sarries.

Personally our priorities are wrong. Whilst this isn�t putting
out a B team, I feel the league should be our priority as
realistically the champions cup is just a distraction. Sure it
brought us good memories last season, but that�s not a bad
Falcons team. I�m hoping we switch on from the get go

We haven�t been winning with our supposedly strongest line up so
I can see the logic behind trying something different. Not sure
how the young guns will ever get any experience if it isn�t in a
fixture like this one.

I agree - basically a �nothing to lose� strategy, and a win
might wake up our first choice players. And the gap between the
Prem Cup and the Prem is often too vast to be useful.

Pleased to see Porter and Wev starting, don�t view it as a weak
side
No two ways about it we need the win or it�s pretty much top 4
over after this we have ( Prem)
