On what basis was the difference in standard “immense”?
The place kicking wasn’t as good, and women don’t kick the ball
as far (or as often) in open play. The fitness levels are a bit
lower - but that will only change when there is enough money in
the women’s game to pay all the players enough to be full time
rugby players.
The nature of the physical contest is different, largely because
women have a narrower range of physiques than men - but that for
me is a positive, because it’s not enough just to batter the
opposition in to submission.
The handling and running play, on the other hand, was as good as
what was on offer in the men’s match. But I suppose you’d
actually have to have watched the game to know that.
As to why the attendance was lower, there are several potential
reasons. It was a cold day, and not everyone has the endurance
to sit through two matches in those conditions (I was certainly
glad of being able to retreat to the Quinssa Clubhouse between
the matches). Women’s rugby is still in its infancy as a
professional sport - though yesterday’s crowd was bigger than in
any of the other men’s games this week (and more than Quins men
had drawn for a league match until the first Big Game).
And then there are the rugby “fans” who are committed to
undermining it at every opportunity.
I’ll keep saying this until the message gets through: rugby
today is not financially sustainable. The best growth
opportunity is women’s rugby, because there is no more room in
the men’s rugby calendar. Even if you don’t want to watch
women’s rugby yourself, you should want it to succeed.

Wasn’t going to mention it until I was asked why I’m reacting to
you as I am. Not fussed in the slightest about your view of me.
I find your comments about women disgusting and the fact that
you had to come into my PMs and try and take it further shows
what weirdo you are. And I haven’t reported it because I
thought I’d post here so people can see what you’re like.

To put it into context, the best attended Championship game was
at Bedford, a sell out 5,000.

Thats rich coming from you. I used a few hurty words on you
yesterday and you got offended. You are not worth the attention

I wonder if there were more double headers at the Stoop and
other grounds where there are joint mens and womens teams to
increase attendances.

Hang on, you really think that paying the women enough that they
can play full time will deliver fitness equal to the men? I'm
sorry but that's not being an ally, that's absolutely
delusional.
