are others on this board that also think that’s reasonable
behaviour. Bizarre but hope the women in their lives have
       spotted the signs.

I doubt that there are any women in their life.

Whilst it would be great if women's rugby was to "take off" and
grow massively I just can't see it.
Rugby is very much a minority sport and women's rugby is even
more of a minority. My daughters both enjoyed playing up to a
couple of years ago. But the 3 local clubs couldn't field a full
team between them let alone each. Frankly training with 3 other
hours just isn't that exciting or interesting. All 3 clubs run
multiple mens/boys teams.... The 3 clubs were very keen on
promotion of women's rugby but it just didn't attract girls
despite the schools in all 3 towns pushing it in PE lessons.
Mind you if you go to the riding stables around the 3 towns
you'd find them full of girls and very few boys.... Hokey is a
bit more mixed, but cricket locally is very male orientated too.

That was certainly the case a few years ago, Rocker, but it is
changing quite quickly. When our girls needed to find a local
girls youth team during the pandemic, there was only really one
viable option, but there are now multiple clubs that can put out
a team, albeit with a constantly shifting set of clustering
alliances to create big enough squads.
Another way of looking at it is in the pyramid of age grade
players. The U18 squad has just been whittled down to the 35 or
so who (barring injury) will contest the U18 6N. That squad is
drawn from 9 regional player development groups (each
representing 3 or more counties) of about the same size, who
were selected with triallists put forward from the individual
counties. Based on our experience, each county put forward about
35 players from a pool of about 80. Multiply that up, and it
gives you about 3,800 girls playing to county standard, and
around 300 in elite development. That’s a bit smaller than the
men’s academy system, but not by much.

SW London. There are half a dozen viable youth squads in our
immediate area and at least a dozen clubs beyond the M25 who
field strong squads. It’s improved a lot even in the last couple
       of years.
