       Champions cup lost its sparkle?

Chatting on the way back from Paris, and talked about the
regulars that didn’t make the trip
And numbers obviously less than at La Defence , maybe 50% or
       more down
Seen plenty of tickets available for Sat night as well. Watched
a few games and aside from Top 14 home fixtures, numbers don’t
seem the same as last year
Has it lost its appeal ?

A Paris match is as close as it gets to a home fixture for me,
but even so I didn't go. Terrible weather, uninspiring open
stadium out in the banlieues, high train prices, 21h kickoff
meaning an expensive night in Paris and two teams who are not
       playing terribly well this season.
If it had been at the la Défense Arena at a time that allowed me
to get a train back home afterwards I'd probably have gone.

       - difficult time wise with work/getting home banking on trains
       - playing pretty poor turgid losing rugby
       - Stormers team fairly depleted so not a massive draw
       - expensive evening for a casual match day goer this close to
       Christmas

I thought it lost its appeal when they changed the format. IIRC
that was initially due to COVID but they've not gone back to a
       sensible format since.

Agree 100% with Brown Bottle. I liked the original format as it
created good friendly rivalries with the reverse fixtures. There
were no 8pm games from recollection, those were left for the
Challenge Cup. The travelling to South Africa means a lot of
fans have lost what might have been an attractive away weekend
in Europe, plus it’s zero degrees in Europe but 38C in Durban.
This last weekends games also seemed to lack something, can’t
       put my finger on it.

Switching the TV coverage to PremierSport has totally ruined it
for me. I'm not prepared to pay for yet another subscription
service beyond TNT and Sky. In previous years the European
games represented a weekend festival of rugby and we watched 80%
of the games whilst also following Quins on the home & away
games. Last weekend we didn't watch any of the games - we will
go to the Stoop and down to Toulon but have zero interest in the
       overall competition.
ERCP have always put the competition first and fans second.
Giving coverage to PremierSport may have lined ERCPs pockets
with gold but it's ruined access to the game and I think folk,
like me for example, have decided enough is enough.

The game as a whole will only get worse on this front, certainly
when all the Arab money comes calling. We will end up with a
cricket version of the hundred and something so watered down and
commercial the fanbase will probably appeal to football crowds

I must admit that Saturday evening at 8pm from Somerset with a
Sunday full of commitments is not really alluring.

Don’t blame you tbh, I must admit that Saturday evening at 8pm
from Surrey with a Sunday full of commitments is not really
       alluring.
