I thought we were bouncing back this week but, according to
Wilson, we are going to bounce back next week now. So that’s

I don’t think things are great at the moment and there’s an
element of same old same old coming through but I’m with you on
this point.
Last night was sloppy, Bristol we were beaten by comfortably the
better side but there are some characteristics that suggest
standards are a bit off at the moment.

Is contract season distracting too many players at the moment? A
large number of the squad seem to be involved in negotiations.
We also don’t have the same team out from week to week and those
coming into the team haven’t had much game time. Teams always
play better with the same lineup constantly.
Didn’t see the game but conditions must have been poor but
as you say, it’s the same for both sides.

While this is certainly true, we've had some agonisingly close
defeats to good sides, but and good performances not rewarded.
Such is life.
What isn't true it's 3/8, it's 3/7. 3/7 sounds bad until you
realise the 4th place team has 4/7 and the 5th has 3/7 as well.
Everyone is beating everyone in this league. There are six teams
largely as good as each other and we're in that group, with the
points being incredibly tight. We're a bonus point win behind
the 3rd place team.
Obviously I'd much rather we were in Bath's position or
producing performances like we saw from Bristol, but Bath are
one of the few teams that lost at home in the last couple of
days and Bristol famously flatter to deceive in the long run.
It doesn't make sense that people are dooming like we're in
Exeter or Newcastle's position. I don't for a second want to
dismiss people's frustration or desire to see more wins, but I
do think that the "everything's awful, throw it all out and
start again" crowd need to be a bit more realistic about the
nature of the competitions and also take a look at some other
clubs every now and then.

It was an incredibly frustrating game to watch.
Clearly, the pitch was terrible, which made scrummaging
impossible. Which was a bit of a shame as I think we actually
had the upper hand in that department in the first half.
The pack had about a dozen opportunities in the first half too
score tries and put the game to bed. But, they didn't mix it up.
They insisted on trying to maul. But, the maul didn't go
anywhere also due to the poor pitch.
Why didn't they try tap and gos? They may even have brought the
backs into play.
And why did Smith keep going the same kick offs? They didn't
work, so why keep going?
Why did Halfpenny keep kicking long? Why not contestable kicks?
But, the big where the game changed was the yellow card. (Which
in my opinion should have been a knock on to us). During that
period they scored 10 points which basically killed of our
chances.
Basically, we played well, but without leadership on the pitch -
and we were therefore always up against it.

Very frustrating to watch, resulting in lots of just kick the
****penalties shouting at the TV. Must have been so much worse
in the stadium.
Scrum held up well on a terrible pitch - Wyn Jones also racked
up a good number of tackles could be a really good signing.

But was was so frustrating was amount of possession v getting
over the white wash, seriously wonder if we will get out of
group stage

Yeah, I was thinking that kicking for the sticks might have been
a bit of a lottery.
Basically, windy conditions and a soft pitch that gives a bit as
you go to kick is a kickers worst nightmare.
I think we did the right thing in going for a try. We just
needed to mix it up a bit.

I said in the prem and champions cup, so 3/8 is true.
We have 1 more win than Newcastle, so we’re a lot closer to
their position than we are Bath.
I don’t think everything is awful, but we make the same errors
every week and seem to lose from winning positions consistently.
That’s more frustrating than if we were just getting beaten by
the better team every week.
