Good news. Had been one or two murmurs of a return to SA but
good to have his leadership on the pitch.

I thought he’d move on or retire, and I thought he was past his
best. But since he has had an extended run being injury free
he’s showing the form that made him named club captain, so very
pleased to see him re-sign! Can only hope he stays injury free
again!

Agreed. Touch wood it seems he's put his injuries behind him and
his form has really benefitted from the run of games. Thought he
looked below-par for most of last season but has improved this.
He's 33 in Jan so imagine it'll be 2 season extension max.

I think on current showing I’d have chosen him over Launchbury;
who let’s face it, what has he done?
I really do think we need a decent signing at 4 though with
Herbst and Joe maybe more likely to go, but ideally one for the
future. Kpoku would have been ideal to lure but probably no
chance now within racing extension.

But - don't Steph and Launchbury play different position. One is
a 4 and one is a 5?

Think Launchbury did a decent enough job last season and will
continue to contribute this, however could see this being an
area we look to upgrade in the summer with JL probably heading
out and possibly Herbst.
I'd like Lewies, Dino, Herbst, NEW SIGNING and the lesser
spotted George Hammond vying for the jerseys.

Yes but my thinking is more in the scope of if a “mature” player
is to be kept, not necessarily position wise. I’d be stunned if
we retained all 3
