Just seen the highlights too. Looks like it was a really
entertaining first half, but we collapsed a little in the
second. Bristol looked very good, and their Fijians (?) really
add something - a little reminiscent of when Semi played for us.
It seemed like we just weren't clicking, whereas Bristol really
did. It happens. I wouldn't measure our season by this game,
like I wouldn't measure it by the Sarries victory. Gabs appears
to have become a much more rounded player and is quite the
talent, but I'd still prefer Murley. And Northmore is very quick
for a comparatively bug guy. Sorry to see Joe's exit blighted by
a heavy loss, but we move on to next week.

It's twice as hard to defend at that pace. No surprised we were
gassed when the yellow card made it impossible.
We didn't manage to slow them down and that's one area when
Andre would have made a difference. Your midfield does need to
be able to disrupt and steal ball these days. It was no surprise
WEv went off as he was ineffective while Kenningham was one of
the few able to make an impact at the breakdown.

That was some performance by Bears. We were promising in parts
but lost the ball in attack too often . At least we got
something out of the game. The other high point that took the
sting out of that defeat a bit and congratulations to Newcastle
was their win over Salarycens .

Bristol were very good and we were off it. We really missed
Herbst and Lewies. Hopefully they aren’t out for long,
unfortunately Launchbury is now start to look his age.
The game was 100% played into their hands however from the
reffing of Luke Pearce. He allowed Bristol to come in from all
angles at the ruck and allowed no contest over the ball. We got
over the ball a number of times and he never gave a holding on
until right at the end. Then he just let the Bristol forwards
fly in from all angles around the ruck to get quick ball. And oh
the irony that we had two or three forwards passes penalised and
Bristols were ignored.
Bristol fully deserved their win, but god Pearce had a big
impact on the game

I was surprised by how poor our attack was, a lot of the time it
looked static, just passing down the line but moving backwards
with no forward momentum. Bris on the other hand kept running
incredible lines, at such pace, it was very difficult to see
where the ball was going, and must have been a nightmare to (try
to) defend.

A factor in that in the second half was that van Rensburg was
offside in defence on a lot of phases - and even the Bristol fan
behind me agreed. Quins always struggle when the opposition is
allowed to do that. Bristol deserved all their tries, and the
win, but it hacks me off when the officials don’t seem
interested in applying the laws.

It's weird that they apply the laws to us, though.

Neither team was penalised much. Quins coughed up one in the
first half to Bristol's zero. Pearce was extremely consistent at
least and left it up to two teams trying to play with pace to
sort things out.

Don’t think Sir did much wrong. The main thing that went against
us was entirely our own fault. Let’s face it, we could hand pick
a ref to our liking and play the game again and the result would
still be the same.

Have to be honest, I'm getting bored with myself now (a bit you
like you guys are with me 😀) worrying about the
officials not spotting offsides, holding on's, forward passes
and wonky lineouts. I find the additional ulcers are no longer
worth it.
Shame really but most could be solved with technology.
