Why do you equate amateurs in such a manner? That smacks of
elitist distain.

We might be lucky enough to get "some idiots" who know what they
are doing?

No elitist distain Bod. More a dose of realism. Amateurs at
running a big organisation with a large number of competing
elements. Doing what’s best for the sport while appreciating
it’s a big commercial organisation too. No getting away from
that. Sport is generally appallingly administered and I don’t
see a plan, just a “get this lot out” and go from there.
It’s not as simple as I’m sure many people like to think it is.
I have no time for Sweeney and his merry band but equally I
actually want it to get better rather than sling that lot out
and hope that the next lot are better than what they replace.

I am 70 years of age next July but I would take Sweeney's job
for £70k pa (plus free parking) if offered it. Who knows, I
might even do a better job !?

You might SQ!
We do seem to be in a situation where there's desire for change
and rightly so. The whole issue of these LTIPs given the overall
performance is a substantial issue given the wider context. I
just want to be boringly sure that what replaces Bill and co is
an improvement rather than the normal rugby thing of a) an
external person good in their industry but absolutely no
experience of the business of sport or feel for the sport. b) an
ex player because they're all good old chaps surely or c)
Someone who represents the grass roots/professional
game/business side or the RFU but neglects all else.

A lot of ex pros now good senior positions in industry. It
should be possible to find someone who has experience in both
worlds.
I feel like we need our own equivalent to Phil Waugh.
