Anybody know when the old stand was demolished and the new one
opened?

New West Stand in use for the first time at the start of our
Division 1 season, September 2005.

Quite.
The team were using the College changing rooms while the new
stand was being built. I was a steward in those days, I was
outside the changing rooms, he came out, introduced himself - as
if he needed to - and shook hands.

Not completely accurate. E.g. this entry has the North stand as
the most recent which is wrong.

Yes the old one was demolished in 2004 and started the new one
straight after. It was our first year with a season ticket and
we got relegated at the end of it. Evans admitted after, if
memory serves, that he'd sought to save money on the squad to
compensate for the cost of the new stand. Div 1 was fun
though.....

Also I am sure Nick Duncombe succumbed to sepsis not meningitis
(further down the article)

He definitely contracted meningitis; sepsis is just the medical
term for the consequences of the infection.
