Weak is probably the wrong word, but it’s very much a cup side
with few Premiership regulars.
With the obvious exception of Carre, it’s a very green Saracens
pack.
The backs are the inverse of that. Not sure if Bracken has
played in the Premiership yet but Segun and Parton are
experienced and Elliott has pretty much established himself as
first choice this season. Spink (while at Wasps) and Hartley
(last season) have been regular starters and Eden had a few back
up appearances at Bristol.
Carre, McFarland and van Zyl are the only capped players I
think?
Our side is quite a bit stronger on paper with a lot more first
team regulars.

What’s going on with Will Joseph? Gone from getting England caps
and starting for us in the Championship Cup, to benching for the
prem cup. I know he had an injury but he seems to have fallen so
out of favour

I think it’s less about what’s happened to him than what his
competition for the shirt has done. Northmore has returned from
his own long term injury and gone straight back to his previous
form, while Beard has matured physically and as a decision maker
and looks increasingly like he has the highest potential of the
three. Joseph is unlucky to have been injured at a point where
two good alternatives have stepped up.
Likewise, Kerr was one of the standout players in the JRWC
winning England squad last year, and played well off the bench
last week; I suspect Quins see him as the longer term future in
the centres, though he will have to bulk up a bit before he’s
ready to play 12 (which seems to be his preferred position) at
senior level. Quins seem keen to use the PRC to give academy
players game time with Kerr, Friday and Benson starting and
Schmid and Bradley on the bench.
It happens even to very good players. Gonzalo Tiesi was a
current Argentina international and the obvious choice in the 13
shirt for Quins, but he picked up a concussion and while he was
recovering a teenager called George Lowe claimed the shirt so
convincingly that Tiesi never really got it back.

Think it’s a bit OTT to say Joseph was getting caps for England.
He got one out in Oz as far as I recall, didn’t do much
(understandably given he’d have been very young) and not sure
he’s been near another cap since has he? I’ve been underwhelmed
when he’s played for us. Not saying he’s a bad player but not
sure he’s really grasped the opportunity like others have. Out
of our current 13s, he’s the one I’m less bothered about leaving
if that does have to happen.

I think today's results put us away to Newcastle in the
quarter-finals
Apologies, thought it was only 3 fixtures in the pool element.

That’s a pretty poor result considering (in my view) how much
more seriously we took it with players regularly in and around
the first team

With three games still to play? I don’t think so

Apologies, I thought there were only 3 games in the pool
section.
