Of course, that adds to the cost, as all the teams are away each
week.
So more hotel rooms needed, and probably training locations.
I am guessing matches two weekends out of three all year round,
except the Autumn International, Six Nations, SH Championship
and NH touring periods.
And presumably looking to host in the major stadiums, So
Twickenham for the London round. Possibly LA Colosseum and
somewhere on the East Coat, perhaps Met Life Stadium for the US
rounds - and if they think that is where the money is then the
USA will get two rounds. I also guess somewhere in Japan and
possibly China.
The islands would miss out as they do not have the
infrastructure.
But it all comes down to - can you sell TV rights.
Personally I think I am nore likely to sell Brooklyn Bridge

And if they do hire all the internationals, that reduces the
market value of the Premiership, and any putative Premiership
II.

Here is a very (potentially) welcome idea. Regarding English
representation..... why not send Saracens to it, permanently !

And Marsile could report on serial Saracens losses that would
occur.

Maybe (probably) I'm misreading this. The eight teams - do they
have to be representative of a single country?
What about a sevens type touring event between the same eight
teams drawn from a pool of players centrally contracted, but
allocated to separate franchises.
Agreed that squad sizes would need to be bigger.
I'm not sure where the idea of court cases comes in. Players can
ply their trade where and for whom they like.

Pretty sure we've heard this all before. All these proposals
ignore the major issue that rugby is a tiny minority sport and
most people simply have no interest

AFAIK, no idea has been given as to whether these would be
"clubs" or "country" teams or some sort of combination. I'd
suspect the former is more likely as otherwise it becomes
international-lite rather than teams of superstars from around
the world.
An IPL-style auction event or NFL-style draft would be
entertaining though. And the draft should include a combine
where we get to see props bench pressing etc
The only court case would be for those players centrally
contracted who are, I suspect, confined to plying their trade in
the Premiership.

four matches every round. But all four would take place over one
weekend (Fri, 2 x Sat and Sun for eg) all in the same place (eg
Twickenham) before the whole circus ups and leaves for another
venue (eg Paris) the following week or two weeks.

Those "teams" would need to have bases to train in during the
week. Assuming they want to make it "global" they would want to
base teams around the globe (USA, Europe, SA, Aus/NZ, Middle
East, etc). If the idea is that the teams are put together via a
draft & contain players from multiple countries, that would mean
the players (a lot with fairly young families) would have to
agree to move & even then spend a lot of time on international
travel away from their families. Can't see a lot of players
wanting to do that. It's one thing to have an overnight away
trip to Newcastle/Toulouse etc once in a while. If the games are
being taken on effectively a continuous continent-crossing road
trip (e.g. Round 1 San Francisco, Round 2 Boston, Round 3
Twickenham, Round 4 Jo'burg, Round 5 Dubai etc etc) players will
be spending 3 or 4 days a week travelling. Hardly conducive to
family life *or* to consistent rugby training.
Plus, it's not just the players. As well as a squad of at least
30 per team, you'll need all the coaches & training staff,
fitness, medical, etc to keep the teams running. While some
(medical/fitness) can be local, I doubt there's a surplus of
coaching/training staff free to do this. I say a squad of 30,
but it's liable to be more than that anyway given that they need
to have other players to train with/against during the week.
All of that is just on the team side. There's a need for refs &
other matchday officials, disciplinary board etc. all of whom
need to be experienced.
I can't see this getting off the ground.

Much of this applies to the sevens circuit, which is hugely
popular.
