A truly great player for England and very well respected by his
peers. His personality may have got him in trouble but he always
saw the funny side of everything and his sense of humour wasn't
always understood.
Now he can focus on Quins and bringing Baxter on more. He got a
bit schooled yesterday so needs to get over that.

Around a dozen+ years ago you visited the Pulborough youngsters
on a Sunday morning. I remember with fondness when asked by one
of the lads: "were you upset that you didn't earn the money
footballers did?", you simply replied: " no, I love the game
like you all do, & that's more important".
You became my favourite player then, & still are.
Love you Joe, good luck with the future (& I can't wait until
you appear on Strictly Come Dancing). 😉

A fantastic player and character (sometimes getting it horribly
wrong) who will be missed by both England and Quins. I do
however take great hope from the heir apparent Fin Baxter in
both jerseys.

An excellent international career. The best scrummaging loose
head we had throughout the period, even though the coaches often
favoured vunipola and genge's play in the loose.
Borthwick should probably have moved him and cole on already,
but nice he gets to call time himself

Genuinely, what do you mean? Let’s set aside being “woke” being
a bad thing - which it isn’t,
But by the definition I assume you mean - there’s no one more
“woke” than Joe, a man who has literally defined himself through
being public about his struggles with mental health.
And you think the very dull old men of the RFU are likely to be
progressive?
Or is it you actually think he’s has to retire for a badly
worded tweet?
I’m fascinated.

In your opinion.
