Tom Lawday in action against London Scottish at The Stoop
Tom Lawday will lead Harlequins out at the Richmond Athletic
Ground to take on London Scottish in the first round of the
       Premiership Cup on Saturday (2pm).
The matchday 23 for this weekend’s Cup opener sees a raft of
changes to the team that went to battle at Sandy Park a week
ago, providing the wider squad an opportunity to impress in the
       famous quarters.
Welsh international and British and Irish Lion, Wyn Jones is
named at loosehead for the encounter against the Exiles, with
Sam Riley and Will Hobson selected at hooker and tighthead
       respectively.
George Hammond features alongside Jonny Green in the engine
room, while Tom Lawday lines up at openside, Archie White on the
blindside and debutant Lucas Schmid is named at number eight.
In the half-backs, Lucas Friday is another young gun set to make
his senior bow at scrum-half with Jamie Benson orchestrating the
team in the number 10 jersey.
Bryn Bradley is paired with Will Joseph in the midfield, while
Hayden Hyde and Roma Zheng are named on either wing. Cameron
Anderson completes the starting XV at full-back.
Amongst the impact players, props Simon Kerrod and Tom Osborne
are joined by hooker Jimmy Staples, who is also in-line to make
       his senior debut if introduced.
Harry Browne and Zach Carr complete the complement of forwards
and backs Lewis Gjaltema, Connor Slevin and Sean Kerr complete
       the matchday 23.
Scrum and Transition Coach, Adam Jones said: “The upcoming block
of Prem Cup fixtures gives the wider squad an opportunity to be
exposed to different pressures and stake their claim for a spot
when the Premiership returns. "London Scottish will be up for
the challenge on Saturday afternoon, so we’ve got to deliver an
80-minute performance to ensure we start our Cup campaign on the
       front foot.”

The "unavailable" list gave me a chuckle...
Quite an exciting lineup with a lot of high potential young
players involved. A particular frisson for me as Lucas Schmid
played school rugby with Poorfour Jr for a number of years. He
was the standout player even then, and great to see him make his
senior debut. And I could imagine being happy to see that
backline starting a Prem game in a few years.
Shame it's been arranged to clash with another local game that
       afternoon.

I am going ... I will drive up the A316 an hour earlier than
usual (hopefully to avoid the worst of the crowds) and have a
       wander around Richmond.

Same here PF, saw him a number of times at 'the college' as one
of my daughters was there as well. He's really going to be a big
       prospect for the future.
       A very good young backline...

This was even longer ago than that... so long ago, in fact, that
it was before Age Grade Rugby harmonised school and club rugby.
They played as 9 year olds in a 10 a side game with everything
except fully contested scrums and lineouts, and the team's
strategy that year was basically Poorfour Jr jackalling the
ball, and Lucas scoring once he'd got it.

Is there any chance that this will be live-streamed on YouTube,
do you think? Presumably, if it is, Quins will not announce that
until nearer the time to deter supporters from staying at home.

Hey Big man. You might want to consider trains. Unless they’ve
suspended it for the game, there’s road works on the A 316 near
St Margaret’s, which could cause “a little difficulty” for those
       going to big stoop.
