When you read the full quote, he's really pushing for teams to
be able to respond as they want, rather than the WR restrictions
about "being respectful", not getting within 10m etc. He
specifically refers to the Siva Tau that Samoa performed and how
England responded at the RL international at the weekend.

Ah Joe, love's a wind up.
It is daft having an exclusion zone around it though so what if
they get in each others faces and a bit of pushy shove
afterwards. If it's theatre you want.......
Also, the dragging the finger across the throat thing. If Marler
did that mid game, he'd have a penalty given against him and get
cited so why can they do it during their dance???

I was under the impression from talking to New Zealanders, that
they prefer it when there is a response.
The whole idea is that it is a challenge - therefore, you should
respond to the challenge in some way.
Just standing a distance away and staring at it is basically
       disrespecting it.

There probably needs to be a version of this site specifically
       for Joe:

The tradition of playing the anthems only started as a response
       to the haka.
The All Blacks did their folk dance, and then the hosts played
the anthem to lift the home team and get the crowd behind them.
A side should get either one anthem - or a medley the same
length if they must - or other cultural symbolism.

Personally - I don't like the Haka at sport events
       1. It gives one team an advantage
       2. The facing team cools down thereby negating some of the warm
       ups they did
       3. It is just a game - not a battle or a war, etc.
But - on the other hand, I do remember watching SA vs New
Zealand in 1976 when I was a mere 10 year old and at that point,
I thought it was the best thing I had ever seen in Rugby.
South Africa used to have a challenge many, many years ago based
on a Zulu challenge. But, they moved with the times and scrapped
       it a long time ago.

Far more importantly, he withdrew from the camp on Monday for
       personal reasons.
