Sititi’s offload was wonderful, and the confusion in England
defence just should not happen for Jordan's try. Mind you , that
young fella is pretty special.

Not a lot to argue with there.
I'd add that replacing the front row and turning our scrum into
a penalty machine was a contributing factor. Up till then the
scrum had been rock solid but our new front row just couln't
cope.
Also the tactics when Ford came on. We retreated into our shells
and played defensive rugby. When will we learn you can't do that
with New Zealand?
And our attack generally was a problem. Sure, we scored a
brilliant try off Marcus' interception but the only way we
really looked like getting points was by the blitz defence
unsettling them and giving away penalties. We never opened them
up the way they did us.

Does CCS remind you of an embryonic Sebastian Chabal in the

I'll need to watch it back, but in the stadium it looked like
more than a front row problem. The front row weren't breaking
their binds or going down (and on one occasion it looked like
they forced the NZ front row to pop up), but they were going
backwards. That's usually an indication that the pack as a whole
isn't providing enough power - and NZ added 5 stone to their
pack through their replacement props alone.
The scrum was definitely a problem, but I think it's more
complex than just the front row replacements.

As somebody who was a massive Seabass fan, I'm intrigued in what

CCS had his best game that I can think of, but it was still a 40
minute display. It's my issue with him - he plays well for a
short period of time but drops off quite quickly.

I don't think that's right about their props. Lomax is 2.5 stone
lighter than the guy who replaced him, but Williams is 2 stone
heavier than his replacement.

I'd seen something beforehand suggesting that the replacements
were 22 and 23 stone vs 20 stone for the starters - but perhaps
that was before they dropped de Groot. They looked pretty
monstrous from the stands, either way.
