We stuck to the proven method of England losing close games at
the end again by taking Marcus off. He is the only England 10
who threatens in attack and is now probably one of the best
defending 10s in the Prem. Today his place kicking was 100%..We
replace him with one of the worst defenders in the Prem who
never threatens the gain line. Immediately momentum and mindset
shifts from front foot to back foot. This idea of “ closing down
the game” at 62 minutes is so out of date - games are nowadays
often won in the last 15 mins by enterprising attack against
weary players from inside their own half. Giving the ball away
for territorial gain is no longer a good tactic with still 20%
of the game to go. Hold on to the ball and keep threatening. We
are wasting such a rare talent just when we need him.

Yeah, he was excellent - smashing guys out of the way, extremely
hard to tackle, good in the air, scored again... It's Freeman
who simply hasn't produced the form that got him the shirt in
the first place, which IMO was largely at 13 anyway.
Anyway no one is really surprised that Slade was an empty shirt,
Tom Curry anonymous, and Ford miles off the pace, right?

All of that was highly predictable wasn’t it. Slade was way off
the pace, Curry totally meh and Ford not with it at all. I don’t
think any of the subs improved matters at all.
Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Just too predictable.
       This team doesn’t learn.

IFW today: 76m made from 9 carries, 2 clean breaks, 1 try, 7
defenders beaten (next best on either side was on 4), 8/2 in
       defence. Extremely good display.

Part of me thinks that Freeman is in because he can cover 13 and
it allows a 6-2 bench. Do wonder what Sleightholme has to do to
       get a game.

Smith should not have been taken off. How he can bring Ford on
to replace a 17 point fly half with a player who hasn't even had
a full prem game in months.
I would deffo drop Spencer and try Randall. With Smith they
       could be 🧨.
Time to retire re Dan Cole. We should be giving game time to the
young Gloucester tight head. We are three years away from the
       world cup. If now when!
Theo Dan looked excellent too, maybe we need George to come on
as a finisher and add his experience help the team.

I thought IFW had a blinder - a "Marcus" winger
Wht TF Smith was taken off is a mystery that the Chief Wizzard
Borthwick must explain - the head honcho blew the win completely
       Incompetent and incapable
HQ are nothing if not consistent in the Head Coach appointments
       They want nodding poodles

Sleightholme has had a weird season. Twice benched, but has 4
tries from his 3 starts. Maybe a fitness concern?

love all the england armchair expert bants. truth is . NZ are
going through one of their worst periods on record and still
managed to beat a mediocre england team. . stadium was half full
for most of the time as those who had corporate took full
advantage too . that needs sorting

Slade - Never; ever done much for England and one of the biggest
       cap thieves going
Curry - in on his name and not form, needs dropping
Ford - chucked in with no form like Slade. Needs dropping
Freeman - yet another game he’s done nothing other then an
Freddie Steward tribute act on the wing. It’s nice he can catch,
but I want my wingers to be creative. The irony is he got in the
England side off the back of playing at 13.
