Yes, weird, that. Second best English team in the ERC Cup and
the worst team in the Premiership. 🙂

And we are fifth, a point ahead of Leicester and Bath and just
one point behind Wasps in fourth.

Actually I think that was a pretty decent game (watching video
rather than live admittedly).
Boyce had one of those games - we could have been home and hosed
by half time if he hadn't had a mare. Bit of a concern in the
scrum though. Elia has really fallen off as well, Crumpton is
clearly our best hooker. Thought he was decent around the park
too, really uncompromising defender.
Thought Dombrandt was superb, as were Marchant, Mulchrone and
Chisholm. Smith also very good, and the best I've seen Brown
play for a long time. Earle is so busy, doesn't look like he'd
let anyone down for England - but his defence does need some
work. Tapui continues to be very strong all-round - with him,
Marchant and Saili we have a pretty decent midfield. Saili
showed a lot and I thought Clifford really grew into the game.
Barely noticed him 1st half but he was absolutely everywhere
after the break.
Symons is looking better, but Merrick has really gone downhill.
Collier was pretty uninspiring and Morris wasn't great before
his shocking tackle. Glynn and Swainston not really up to it.
Nor Ward, sadly. Lang came on and defended really well I
thought, and that clearance towards the end was delightful.
Won't comment on Dave Lewis, who I guess can at least say that
he was closing out the game when he came on and killed any kind
of momentum.
We should have scored far more and never looked particularly
comfortable, but we defended well and some players who are
clearly not up to it will not get much of a look in outside
internationals. Some encouraging signs with players coming back
from injury and when we click we'll put on a decent display.
Dombrandt has been an absolutely quality signing.

Yeah, Dombrandt showing up so well is really pleasing and the
back row looks very competitive now.

Very good result against a team we lost twice to last year.
Whilst their league position is poor, they’ve beaten Toulon
recently and have looked impressive at times.
Glad we are back up and running in the Premiership and optimism
for this resurgent season is continuing.

Hope we have a strong side available for the Exeter game as that
will be an interesting benchmark as to where we are. In recent
years it's always felt they've took us to the cleaners, although
admittedly they've often been dead games for us at the end of
the season.
