He wasn't, he released the ball past the line and it wasn't
obviously passed forward, and that isn't how momentum works
either...

Oh no. Please don't link the video. I'm sure you are aware from
endless debates on various forums over 2 decades that I know
full well what momentum can do to a legal pass. He didn't have
the momentum needed to send the ball that far forward out of the
hands.
