He started the first Test against NZ. He's not the team mascot.

And he's personally stated he's now second fiddle to Fin. Not
quite sure where the idiotic "mascot" reference comes from. Try
reading my post again.

Marler started the first test because Genge was injured and
Baxter had one cap. Marler has also said that this is his last
season and seems to mean it [1]. His role in the squad is on the
training pitch and as injury cover; Borthwick probbaly plans to
go into RWC 27 with Genge and Baxter as his primary looseheads
(though so far he has only offered Genge a central contract).
[1] Though I still believe he will retire to a cave under the
Surrey hills [2] to sleep until England's time of need.
[2] Or a podcast studio. Which is the modern equivalent.
