Listening to the game abroad, via BBC Radio Devon who are not
happy - what a night for Newcastle, sounds like they deserved
it. What’s happened to Chiefs?

Well they've been within 7 points in all five losses so they
can't be too far away. Haven't been able to cope with losing so
many quality players over the last two seasons.

I was at the the Chiefs/Bristol game last week (I'm exiled in
Devon) and despite the Chiefs supporters being very angry at
their half backs, the issue is actually their pack.
There was little or no plan for defending rucks. Often no guard
and that basically allowed the Bristol players to get to the 9
(first Maunder had the ball dislodged while passing and then
Cairns was charged down). Ultimately Ibitoye got the plaudits
because of his hattrick, but after each score, the Chiefs
restart went to the same place/player and Bristol simply went
again.
Chiefs have traditionally had a strong pack, which gave the half
backs an easy ride to open up the backs. That's not the case
this season.
That said, they have quality in the backs and their back three
will open any team up (Hodge still looks a little rusty after
returning from injury, but is improving each game). There are
literally a bounce of a ball away from a win and I think they
are a confidence team that will then get on a roll.
My advice to Quins next week is to hit every ruck with as much
ferocity as possible and put their 9/10 on the back foot.

I totally agree with this sentence. We definitely need Chisholm,
Herbst, Lamb and Jibulu in the 23 in order to achieve this.
Any alternative suggestions ?
