South African and New Zealand fans are great.
The small number of South African fans and New Zealand fans that
are very vocal on social media are very different though.

Most fans are great. The ones I most often have problems with
are Welsh fans - many are lovely, but there is a hard core of
fans whose behaviour towards anyone English is way beyond the
       pale.

I'm sure I've mentioned this here before but years ago (in that
90s era when we beat Wales all the time) I naively wore an
England shirt to watch a game in a pub in Newport. It did not go
       well.

A friend who's a football fan and did a lot of away games said
they long ago gave up going to matches vs Cardiff as it got
steadily less friendly and less safe through the 80s and 90s.

There's gobby fans of all shapes and sizes across the nations.
Never had a problem in person with any of the SA/NZ fans but
some of their online contingent are a whole new level of
obsessive and unhinged. I don't read rugby Twitter any more.
Cardiff is the only place that has a bit of nastiness to it and
I'd think twice about going. That's before you have the dreadful
transport and access to the place. Bit of strangeness at
Edinburgh since Scotland stopped being perennial wooden spoon
candidates and beating England with some rather mouthy
characters in the fanbase but a real minority.

The two most memorable encounters I had were when I went up with
some mates (who were very obviously Scots) for Scotland v Wales
and we were watching England v Italy in the pub beforehand. I
was dressed in neutral colours and hadn't said a word - nothing
to identify my allegiance. A middle aged Welshwoman walked past
me, and declared "[insert euphemism] See You Next Tuesdays
[/euphemism]" and when at the 2015 RWC game two Welsh women
screeched "WAAALES" all match, spilt beer over us and eventually
one fell over on top of us, needing us to catch and right her
before she slid over the balcony.
For balance, when we lucked into tickets for the RWC2007 Final,
we were surrounded by fans of about 6 different nations, most of
whom were neutrals by this point, and the biggest [insert
euphemism of choice] was a posh English guy who kept ruffling
the hair of the two South African girls in front of him.
That said, Ms Poorfour Maj and I went to Wales Women vs England
Women at Cardiff Arms Park last year and had a very good
       experience all round.

My worst experiences have been with NZ fans. Possibly the best
was with French fans! Possibly the most humorous were Aussie
       fans.

       Ah yeah, love French fans.
Went to one of the first Le Crunch games at Stade de France. We
won by about 5 points but were camped on our own line at the
       end.
As we left (all wearing England shirts, flags and face paint), a
bent-nosed, square French prop storms towards us …. To say
       congratulations.
We then make our way into a Parisian bar and just like a western
       the bar stops.
Barman takes one look at us and says “Bottle of champagne for
the winners”. Cue boos all round from the locals.
“And a bottle for the losers”
I don’t think we bought a drink all night.

Never had any aggro personally. Most ‘uncomfortable’ I’ve ever
felt was at Murrayfield for Scotland v England where you could
say it wasn’t just banter and more nastiness.
Agree French fans are great based on experiences as a Quins,
       England or neutral fan
