What did you expect them to say? :-)
He struggled badly under the high ball in the first half and
misjudged several, got absolutely done by Elliott in defence at
one point, and is a long way off the attacking player he used to
be. He hasn't lost the nous and he clearly brings a lot of
organisation and positional strength to the backfield, which I
am not downplaying, but we've not seen much from him so far this
season, and even the time we wanted him to kick goals it didn't
go so well!
I remember the Halfpenny who was an international powerhouse.
Not the guy making just 30m from 10 carries at fullback, beating
no defenders, coughing up four turnovers, and going 1/1 in
defence...
This Halfpenny wouldn't get near an international team. I don't
mean to sound super critical, especially as this is basically
what I expected from his signing, but I have to ask if people
ever watched him in his 20s!

My own memories of fans weren't great. Going back to relegation
year, we played them in an evening game. I'd arranged to meet a
Sarries fan I know, after the game. He was full of how we'd get
hammered etc. Several calls up to kick off. Funnily enough,
Quins didn't read the script and we absolutely thrashed them,
setting the record for the fastest TBP. I tried to call after
the game... No answer, then his phone was turned off!
Fast forward a few years, same fan, at Wembley. Again, giving it
large, until we won and the predictable scurrying away.
The few Sarries fans I know are in total denial that their team
ever did anything wrong, love to be loud and brash and
derogatory about other teams, but go AWOL after a defeat.
Sarries players, on the other hand... I've met a few and they're
nice blokes!

With the distaince of time, I can give them a pass on their
reactions around the relegation. It's hard to take when your
team is caught in wrongdoing, and it takes a bit of adjustment.
I know I was in denial about Bloodgate until the evidence
mounted up.
That said, I still have some very fond memories of that night.

I was talking about our relegation! Plenty of gloating about
Quins seemingly unable to win anything. No comment when we
hammered Sarries. And we could have scored even more...

I've been underwhelmed by Halfpenny. He's shelled a few catches
so far this season and seems to be living of his reputation as
"rock solid" under the high ball. And he offer very little in
attack.
With a rookie like Cleaves on the wing greater onus can be
placed on his ability to marshal the backfield but it becomes
less relevant as our first choice back three players return.
Tyrone walks back in to the side and if he's not available I'd
probably rather go with David who's more expansive, with the
latter being far better at fullback then wing in my opinion.

not condoning the booing of an ex Quin and I haven't seen it
done before in all my years at Quins, but Tizz was pretty
disrespectful in the press. Quins gave him his big chance
brought him on early so to announce what he did even if he felt
that way was pretty poor, so I guess I can understand some fans
showing him what they felt about that comment.

I think the booing was mostly pantomime stuff and when he scored
I thought that it would end badly for us but it didn’t and now
he looks silly.
As for Salarycens supporters, they are very like South
Africans when it comes to their team. Could there be some kind
of connection.

back before the end of the season. Good news and wish him a

I found the NZ fans I sat next to this summer were very friendly
& thought highly of England as a team, even before the first
kick-off.
